Treasury Secretary Yellen’s Remarks on MLK Day

Diversity and inclusion have not yet reached the upper echelon of the workplace. Women and people of color continue to be paid less and promoted slower, or not promoted at all. Announcement

The School District of Palm Beach County, Broward County Public Schools, Miami Dade County Public Schools, and The School District of Osceola County are collaborating on the implementation of a college access event highlighting Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU).

"No Limits! HBCU College Fair" is a weeklong initiative with participation from HBCU's from across the country. The initiative will connect students and families from across our state with information about the outstanding post-secondary opportunities available at Historically Black Colleges and Universities. Each Day, February 7th - February 11th, representatives from participating institutions will be available for individual information sessions.

This event will kick-off on Monday, February 7th at 3:00 p.m. with an exciting and interactive virtual program celebrating the HBCU experience.

All sessions are virtual and free and open to anyone who is interested in learning more about HBCU.

US economy 'has never worked fairly for Black Americans,' Treasury chief says.

Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen discussed the systemic inequities still lurking in the U.S. economy and the work her department "needs to do to narrow the racial wealth divide," during remarks Monday at an event honoring the late Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

"From Reconstruction to Jim Crow, to the present day, our economy has never worked fairly for Black Americans -- or, really, for any American of color," the Treasury chief said during the Rev. Al Sharpton's National Action Network's annual breakfast honoring the life and legacy of King. Read More
