Dear Parent(s)/Guardian(s),
The Special Education Parental Advocacy Group (SEPAG) will hold its first meeting on October 22, 2025 at 7pm in the East Brook Media Center. This group is open to all parents and is an opportunity to provide input on systemic issues facing our special education students.
There are two links at the bottom of this email are regarding the Special Education Medicaid Initiative (SEMI). The SEMI program allows school districts to receive federal funds for services that are provided in school such as speech therapy, occupational therapy, physical therapy, and counseling. The first attachment is a Medicaid consent form. If you have not already completed this form, even if you do not have Medicaid, we ask that you sign and return the attached consent form to demonstrate that we have informed you about the program. Additionally, if you are to become eligible for Medicaid in the future, we will then have your consent on file. If you do currently have Medicaid, signing the consent form will have no effect on your child’s Medicaid health coverage for services outside of school. This form may be returned via email or can be sent in with your child to the attention of the Special Services Department. The second attachment is the Annual Notification Regarding Parental Consent which is required to be distributed annually.
I encourage you to reach out to myself or your child’s case manager if you ever have any concerns or questions. Strong communication between home and school is essential for student success and together we can ensure that each student’s needs are being met.

Estimados padres/tutores,
El Grupo de Defensa de Padres de Educación Especial (SEPAG) celebrará su primera reunión el 22 de octubre de 2025 a las 7 p.m. en East Brook Media Center. Este grupo está abierto a todos los padres y es una oportunidad para brindar opiniones sobre los problemas sistémicos que enfrentan nuestros estudiantes de educación especial.
Hay dos archivos adjuntos a este correo electrónico sobre la Iniciativa de Medicaid de Educación Especial (SEMI). El programa SEMI permite a los distritos escolares recibir fondos federales para servicios que se brindan en la escuela, como terapia del habla, terapia ocupacional, fisioterapia y asesoramiento. El primer archivo adjunto es un formulario de consentimiento de Medicaid. Incluso si no tiene Medicaid, le pedimos que firme y devuelva el formulario de consentimiento adjunto para demostrar que le hemos informado sobre el programa. Además, si va a ser elegible para Medicaid en el futuro, tendremos su consentimiento archivado. Si actualmente tiene Medicaid, firmar el formulario de consentimiento no tendrá ningún efecto en la cobertura de salud de Medicaid de su hijo para servicios fuera de la escuela. Este formulario puede devolverse por correo electrónico o enviarse con su hijo al Departamento de Servicios Especiales. El segundo adjunto es la Notificación anual sobre el consentimiento de los padres que debe distribuirse anualmente.
Le animo a que se comunique conmigo o con el adminstratdor de casos de su hijo si alguna vez tiene alguna inquietud o pregunta. Una comunicación sólida entre el hogar y la escuela es esencial para el éxito de los estudiantes y juntos podemos garantizar que se satisfagan las necesidades de cada estudiante.
