Special Election Edition - October 2020 Eureka Chamber Membership News
A MESSAGE FROM YOUR CEO
Welcome to our special 2020 Election Newsletter edition.

I have an important and timely request.
One of the most important and powerful tools Humboldt County residents have is the power to vote. Unfortunately, only 60% of registered voters used their voice, and voted in our last elections, and not all eligible residents are registered to vote.

With the November 3rd election just around the corner and with so much at stake we are dedicating this edition of our monthly newsletter to voter awareness.

If you are not currently registered to vote, the Humboldt County voter registration by mail or online deadline is October 19th 2020.

In this newsletter we would like to share with you vital information including key dates, voting locations and other information you need to know.

This is not about telling someone who to vote for, this is about getting our community and residents involved in civics and in our future.

We want to share with you trustworthy sources of information.

I have a few asks. That is that you use your power to vote. Make a plan, and then VOTE. Share the information in this month’s newsletter with your employees, your families and friends. Encourage them to do some research to ensure that their voice counts for what they believe in.

The future of our city and county can be determined by you!

Conditional voter registration is a safety net for Californians who miss the deadline to register to vote or update their voter registration information. Voters can use the conditional voter registration process from the day after the deadline all the way through Election Day. Eligible citizens can go to their county election office, polling place, or vote center to register and vote conditionally. These ballots will be processed once the county elections office has completed the voter registration verification process.

Special Message from Kelly Sanders, Humboldt County Clerk, Recorder and Registrar of Voters:

Absentee Ballots is a term of the past. They are now called Vote by Mail Ballots. All active registered voters in Humboldt County will receive a ballot in the mail. If a voter makes a mistake on their ballot or misplaces their ballot, the deadline to request a replacement ballot is October 27.

Voters should turn their ballot in early! Vote by Mail Ballots are the first ballots processed and reported on Election Night.

Vote early and avoid lines! If you want to vote in person, you must bring your Vote by Mail Ballot to the Voter Assistance Center to surrender so you can vote a precinct ballot.
