You may have heard it's National Farmers Market Week - a time to celebrate our farmers who work so hard to bring us fresh, healthy produce and the markets that give them the opportunity to connect with shoppers.
It's the time to talk about the importance of supporting your local farmers at the market and about how exciting it is to see all the produce that's coming in despite the heavy rains in the spring.
Produce like the heirloom tomatoes, summer squash, tomatillos, herbs, melons, peppers, onions, corn, and more that we saw last week.
It really was a beautiful site.
But we also need to talk about another very important aspect of farmers markets: cookies. Because life is all about balance.
This week, we're joined by our final special guest from last November's Cookie Baking Contest, our First Place Winner, Katie Wiebe. She'll be selling her winning entry,
White Chip Orange Cookies
, along with cutout cookies and we're happy to say the proceeds will benefit
Kylie's Bags of Love
This may be Katie's only visit to the market so come get the goodies while you can and support this wonderful cause!
And while you're there, be sure and support our other wonderful market vendors because there really is no market without your continued support.
And we kinda like being around.
P.S. Special shout-out to our 3rd Place Winner, Rita Kapusinski, who joined us at the market back in June and who just won 1st place at Heritage Day with her Glazed Lemon Rosemary Cookies! Congratulations, Rita!!
