  Touching All The Senses

April 2015
Hello from the President,

It is so hard to believe that over a year ago we had our Grand Re-Opening.  It seems just like yesterday.  Over this time we have started monthly training classes to give parents and teachers the skills to use the multi-sensory room to its maximum benefits.  We have had an Open House to allow families to use the room under our guidance and to see how Special Haven can be used to help their children.  We have also had movie nights, a magic show, and just recently a ceramics class.  These events are just other ways that we can provide our special needs community a safe and fun environment for kids.  In fact, we are going to have our second Open House this weekend, Sunday, April 19, where the ceramics classes art projects will be on display.  Please swing by and check out us out on Sunday.  Please be on the lookout for more fun and exciting events for the kids in the coming months.

To keep Special Haven going and to allow us to provide a free environment for the special needs community in East County, we need your help.  Please consider joining us at our next fundraiser, Special Haven Beerfest 2015 and E.J. Phair Brewing Company in Pittsburg on Saturday, May 9 from noon to 4pm.  We have 13 beer vendors on hand to share their beer.  Tickets are only $25.  Please see the use the link below to purchase your tickets and to get more information.

If you haven't visited us in a while, please schedule an appointment using our online tool, http://therapeuticcenter.simplybook.me or call us at 925-222-5322. And make sure you get trained so you can get the full benefit of the room for your child. We hold monthly trainings with our next one coming up on Sunday, April 19, from 2:30pm to 4:30pm. Visit our webpage www.specialhaven.org for more information.

Special Haven Beerfest 2015

A few months ago, Special Haven caught wind of some terrible news.  Schooner's Grille and Brewery in Antioch was closing its doors.  Schooner's has been home to the Special Haven Beerfest for 2 years and it was a wonderful venue.  It was time to look for a new venue and a big thank you to goes out to E. J. Phair Brewing Company for stepping in an hosting our event this year.

Open House

Special Haven has been fully operational with all its equipment since January of 2014.  Since then we have seen a steady climb in the number of children using the room.  In fact, we have several classes and groups that come in regularly and we have at least one person using the room almost everyday.  This is great news, but we know that we can reach even more people which is why we have started hosting Open Houses.  Our Open Houses allow families to come in and test drive the room with a trained Special Haven board member to see how Learn more
