  Touching All The Senses

December 2016
Hello from the President,

Hello everyone.  It's hard to believe that Special Haven has been open for over 5 years now.  I wasn't a board member when Special Haven began, but I have been helping with events since it started.  I'm really proud of the fact that Special Haven has been able to remain open for so long and I hope that we can stay open for many years to come.

This coming year we are hoping to give our sensory room a little refresh.  We are currently looking into new equipment for the room and we hope to be able to change a few things in the early part of 2017 as we want to continue to provide a state of the art multi-sensory room for everyone in East County.  With all your support we know that we can do this and we thank you.

We are currently planning out 2017 and we are hoping to add more family fun events in the coming year and we are looking into working with other groups in the local area in different ways.  On January 7th, we are teaming up with the Stockton Heat Hockey team as they host a special needs night.  See the article below for more information.  We are also teaming up with the VFW to bring back Beerfest 2017 on April 29 with a few new twists.  Please keep this date available as the event will help raise money for both Special Haven and the VFW.

Stay tuned for more information on all our events via Facebook and our website.

5th Annual Golf Tournamnet
by: David Chuey

On Saturday, October 8, 2016, Special Haven hosted its 5th Annual Golf Tournament at Lone Tree Golf Course, in Antioch, CA.  This is our signature fundraiser which we rely on to help keep Special Haven going strong.  The event was in jeopardy when we got word that our original venue, Roddy Ranch Golf Course, was closing their doors two months before our scheduled event.  This caused a huge scramble as we needed to either find a new venue or cancel the event.  Thankfully, Lone Tree Golf Learn more

Alli Lardner, an Account Executive for the Stockton Heat, contacted Special Haven about this event which is on Saturday, January 7th at 7:30PM.  The Stockton Heat will donate a portion of the ticket price back to Special Haven, so make sure you mention Special Haven when you call.  There are several ticket price options:  $20 includes a free Heat cap Learn more
