  Touching All The Senses

March 2016
Hello from the President,

Special Haven has been open to the public for close to 3 and a half years now.  I am so proud of all the board members who helped to make Special Haven a reality and who continue to help keep Special Haven open.  We also want to say thank all those who have supported us over the years and for those who continue to support us as we move into the future.

In the last three years, we have tried to not only provide this wonderful sensory environment to our special needs community, but we have also tried to provide other types of events for the children and young adults in the special needs community.  We have hosted movie nights, a magic show, dances, a Christmas Party, and so much more.  One of our board members is a massage therapist and she does reflexology and massage treatments at Special Haven.  She helps many of our special needs families at the center.  And this year, another one of our other board members has opened up shop in our space offering chiropractic services for children on the spectrum.  In fact, he is hosting his second informational talk on March 10 at Special Haven.  Please see the article below for more information.

Thank you to everyone for taking the time to view our newsletter and please share this with anyone you know that has special needs children in East County.

Light It Up Blue

by: David Chuey

On April 2nd, please take the time to, "Light It Up Blue," and help bring awareness to Autism.  The wonderful group, Autism Speaks, launched this program in 2010, with the intent to bring international awareness to autism.  Approximately 1 in 68 children are being diagnosed with autism.  So take a moment to buy a blue light bulb and swap out your porch light for the month of April and on April 2nd wear something blue.  For more information please visit Learn more

The Perfect Storm

Children often respond quickly to chiropractic care and seem to prefer our natural approach.

Children are some of the biggest beneficiaries of chiropractic care. Surprised? Those who think of chiropractic as primarily a solution for neck and back problems are surprised to learn that chiropractic can be helpful for many types of childhood health problems.
