U.S. electricity demand is projected to increase by as much as 20% by 2030—the first sustained growth in over a decade. Data centers already consume approximately 4% of total U.S. electricity and are expected to more than double that figure by the end of the decade. Individual hyperscale campuses now routinely need 300 megawatts to over one gigawatt of firm power—matching, and in some cases far exceeding, traditional large industrial end users of electric energy. Meanwhile, over 2,600 gigawatts of generation and storage projects sit in U.S. interconnection queues with average wait times stretching beyond five years, and industry estimates project over $400 billion in needed transmission investment through 2035.
The demand is here. How do we meet it? What are the issues existing customers should be analyzing now in order to manage power supply pricing and reliability issues in the future?
This two-day Special Institute, presented by The Foundation for Natural Resources and Energy Law (FNREL), assembles leading attorneys, in-house counsel, utility executives, independent system operators, and energy developers to explore the full spectrum of creative power supply solutions and address the novel legal and regulatory issues. Whether you are a utility executive, an RTO/ISO professional, a data center developer, an engineer, a landman, a project finance specialist, an industrial energy manager, a regulatory affairs professional, or an attorney advising any of these stakeholders, this Institute delivers practical tools, strategic insights, and a shared vocabulary to help you meet the demand.
This program is only being offered in an in-person format. Your registration fee includes access to the electronic course materials.
