My Car My Choice Maine Online Petition Gathering Underway
The Maine Bureau of Environmental Protection is poised to vote against adopting the California Advanced Clean Trucks (ACT) rule at one of their December meetings, however, they appear to be favoring a version of California electric car rules (ACC II) that would limit choice for light duty vehicles. In response, the Maine Automobile Dealers Association has launched a petition gathering effort aimed at educating the public about why Augusta needs to pump the brakes on electric car mandates.
Many of the same reasons it was decided not to move forward with electric truck mandates applies to cars as well. Here is an excerpt from the MADA educational project website www.MyCarMyChoiceMaine.com:
The fact is, sales of electric vehicles are slowing down fast. They’re too expensive, range anxiety and limited charging stations make them unreliable, and Mainers simply don’t want them.
MMTA supports MADA given our members use of light duty vehicles and fleets. Please consider signing the online petition to send a message that “your car should be your choice”.
