MEMBER ALERT

The following message was provided to the League to communicate with our members by a representative attorney who has municipal clients in the opioid settlement distribution plan. Any questions will need to be addressed at the meeting.

Opioid Settlement Distribution Meeting

On February 11, 2020 there will be a meeting for all local governments to discuss current developments in the National Opioid Litigation and specifically how Ohio is responding.  Prior to now, many of you took part in meetings with Governor DeWine, Attorney General Yost and other state officials. Since that time, several members of local governments and their counsel have been working directly with officials from the State of Ohio.

The purpose of this meeting will be to discuss the results of those meetings and the proposed plan to move Ohio, the state, counties, cities, villages, townships and others, forward in seeking recovery for the opioid epidemic. The group will hear presentations from counsel for local governments, Dr. Caleb Alexander, Professor of Epidemiology and Medicine at Johns Hopkins University and Special Master David Cohen from the National Opioid Litigation MDL (Federal Court). Following the presentations, we will hear from Governor DeWine, Attorney General Yost and members of their staffs about the joint commitment to move Ohio forward in both the local government and state litigation.

Please know that this is a private meeting and this invitation is being extended to you as a member of your local government. RSVP is absolutely required and no one will be permitted into the room without prior response. This invitation is non-transferable.
