Special Message for Cortland Community
April 17, 2020
Distance Learning Continues
Distance learning will continue through [at least] May 15th, according to the Governor. The Distance Learning Portal will continue to function as the primary communication point. We will soon be adding additional materials related to mental health and well-being on the portal.

If you have printed materials to return, they can be placed in any of the purple newspaper vending boxes located at schools and food distribution sites. Please make sure that all work has your name, grade, and teacher’s name on it. Ideally, the work can be returned in the envelope in which it came.
3rd Quarter Report Cards
We will soon be sending report cards for the 3rd marking period via the US Mail. We are planning on mailing them on April 24th and you should receive them soon after that. Given the distance learning situation, some of the reporting practices have been adjusted. School principals have previously communicated these changes. We know that it is important to provide feedback to our families and our students, so we are providing report cards for the 3rd marking period and will also do so for the 4th marking period, in June.
NY Health Insurance
New Yorkers who are without health insurance should apply now through NY State of Health. If you lost employer coverage, you must apply within 60 days of losing that coverage. Because of a loss of income, New Yorkers may also be eligible for Medicaid, the Essential Plan, Child Health Plus, or subsidized Qualified Health Plan coverage.
Food Service Continues
Grab and go meals (breakfast and lunch) continue to be distributed Monday through Friday, at locations across the community from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. In addition, local food pantries have increased capacity. Please check “Cortland 2-1-1” for locations and times.

If you have an immediate need and/or question, please contact a school social worker or the district office at 607-758-4100, x2221. We are available to assist you in meeting family needs.
Additional Food Assistance
The Salvation Army and Catholic Charities are coordinating to provide food assistance to the community. Catholic Charities delivers on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. The Salvation handles deliveries on Tuesday and Thursdays. Food will be left at the door. Call 607.756.5992 ext. 115 to make arrangements.
