Special Message for Cortland Community
April 6, 2020
Distance Learning Continues
In today’s press conference, the Governor announced that distance learning will continue through [at least] April 29th.

Distance learning will continue as it has been. The Distance Learning Portal will function as the primary communication point. Distance learning will continue, and so, too should the practice of social distancing. Data show that social distancing works and flattens the curve. Nicer weather and extended time apart from friends might tempt us to relax social distancing practices. However, we need to continue the social distancing in order to protect our individual and community health.
Collection of Work That Was Done
Via Distance Learning
Many teachers are collecting work and providing feedback via Google Classroom. Those materials are already being collected online. This will continue. In other cases, students have completed their work on paper.

Thanks to the Cortland Standard , the collection of printed work materials will occur via their previously retired newspaper vending boxes. The boxes have been delivered to each school’s food distribution site as well as Penguin Trailer Park and Rickard Street Apartments. We will empty the boxes each day beginning at approximately 1 p.m.

If you have printed materials to return, they can be placed in any of the boxes. Please make sure that your work has your name, grade, and teacher’s name on it. Ideally, the work can be returned in the envelope in which it came. For everyone’s safety, do not give your work to the people distributing food.
3rd Quarter Report Cards
We will soon be preparing report cards for the 3rd marking period of the 2019-2020 school year. All report cards will be sent in the mail, beginning on April 24th.
