Dear Lakesiders,

As Governor Mike DeWine promised, there will be many changes coming to the ‘Stay Safe Ohio’ order through Friday, May 29. Yesterday, guidelines were issued that allow restaurants to slowly open, first utilizing outdoor seating and followed by indoor seating. Lakeside restaurants are reviewing the details of these new guidelines, and we will provide further updates regarding how they will open over the coming weeks.

There has been no new information provided in the Governor’s re-opening procedures regarding when outdoor recreational venues could open. Although we are starting to get our recreational venues ready for the season, we are still in limbo as to when they will be allowed to open and operate.

We have had initial discussions with the Ottawa County Health Department regarding the safe ways to open and operate venues within Lakeside so that we can be ready once the State of Ohio allows the opening of our currently closed venues.

As we communicated last Friday, operation of Lakeside and the fees charged for admission and parking will not be business as usual and will be adjusted this summer. We already communicated a reduction in the price of the Daily Chautauqua Passes. Today, we are communicating prices for the remaining passes.
Season Chautauqua Passes
An Adult Season Chautauqua Pass, which was originally $820, has been reduced to $475. A Youth Season Chautauqua Pass, which was originally $470 is now $275 (for ages 13-24). As always, admission for children age 12 and under and guests over the age of 90 is free.

Daily Auto Passes
We have reduced the price of parking from May 22-June 19 only. A Daily Auto Pass (to park inside Lakeside), which was originally $13 per day, has been reduced to $8 per day. A Daily Auto Pass (to park in the South Gate Parking Lot), which was originally $7 per day, has been reduced to $5 per day. A Daily Auto Pass (to park in the Danbury School Parking Lot) remains at $2 per day.

From June 20 through the end of the season, a Daily Auto Pass will remain at the original price of $13 per day (to park inside Lakeside), $7 per day (to park in the South Gate Parking Lot) and $2 per day (to park in the Danbury School Parking Lot).

Season Auto & Golf Cart Passes
The Season Auto Pass (to park inside Lakeside) will be reduced from the original price of $230 to $200. The price of the Season Golf Cart Pass will be reduced from the original price of $205 to $190.

If you have already purchased passes at the original prices, please consider donating the difference back to Lakesid e, or if you wish, you may receive a refund by gift card.  To donate the difference, contact the Advancement Office at (419) 798-4461, ext. 246. To receive a refund by gift card, contact the Administration Office at (419) 798-4461 after June 1.  
While we operate under the 'Stay Safe Ohio’ order, we continue to work on innovative programming alternatives for the summer. Many of our traditional programs will need to temporarily move from their traditional brick-and-mortar locations and transition to new outdoor locations or to a virtual option for anyone who wants access to these inspiring programs. 

Hoover Auditorium & Evening Entertainment
Unfortunately, the operation of large entertainment venues like Hoover Auditorium will not be possible this summer due to COVID-19 restrictions. Though it grieves us tremendously, we are planning to operate this summer without utilizing Hoover Auditorium and are creating evening programs to be held at the Steele Memorial Bandstand, as well at various other outdoor venues throughout Lakeside. This will allow Lakesiders to enjoy the grounds and shows with their families while maintaining social distancing.

We are also identifying new outdoor options for some of our most beloved programs, such as the Lakeside Symphony Orchestra, and will be streaming our Hoover Community Worship Services with sermons by our Preachers of the Week. 

Next week, Lakeside will announce its outdoor evening entertainment at the Steele Memorial Bandstand and Pavilion for the first part of the season, as well as our virtual options for lectures, seminars, art classes, Faith for Living Hour and special streamed programs by artists.

At this time, the best way to help is to  protect yourself and other s  by staying informed about the governor’s 'Stay at Home' mandate and practicing safe social distancing/gathering restriction protocols. As we navigate through these challenging times, you can:

  1. Make early donations to the Lakeside Annual Fund. We thank you for all the ways you support Lakeside, and we hope that we can continue to count on your support in the months ahead.
