Good Afternoon Lovettsville!
This past Tuesday, the Lovettsville Town Council unanimously adopted Resolution 2026-08-0002 formally opposing the Valley North Project and requesting that alternative routes and/or technologies be pursued, as well as requesting our county, regional, state, and federal elected officials and regulators seek ways to: (1) reconsider policies promoting and/or resulting in the increased energy demands, (2) investigate and require alternative sources of energy generation and localized power solutions dedicated to serving the primary consumers of the additional electricity supply for which this project is being pursued; both of which are specifically attributed to the existing and expanding data center market. I appreciate both the unanimous support of Council as well as the more than fifty citizens from the Lovettsville community who submitted written comments and/or came out to speak. Furthermore, I appreciate my fellow members of the Coalition of Loudoun Towns (COLT), that includes Mayors of the towns of Hamilton, Hillsboro, Leesburg, Middleburg and Round Hill, for lending their voice to this important matter that impacts the greater Western Loudoun region.
For your reference, I have included the statements, resolution and other supporting documents which were submitted as part of Valley Link's Valley North Project Phase II public feedback period. As was stated on Tuesday night and in the attached letters, these types of projects are not new to the greater Lovettsville community, and we will continue the tradition to advocate for the greater community when they threaten to impact our peaceful way of life. I urge all members of the community to provide feedback during this and future phases of this proposed project, as well as to follow the Town of Lovettsville Valley North Project site at https://www.lovettsvilleva.gov/capital-infrastructure/project/valley-north-electrical-transmission-line-project for updates.
