Operation Fresh Start (OFS) is proud to be part of the transformation of its former home at 1925 Winnebago St. into the Atwood Music Hall, Madison’s newest music venue. After housing OFS from 1980 to 2018, the historic building is being revitalized under new ownership by Toffer Christensen, with plans to open in June 2025.
OFS Build Academy participants, ages 18-24, are working alongside Threshold Builds, gaining valuable real-world skills. Renovations include an expanded balcony, stage extension, and state-of-the-art soundproofing, all while preserving the building’s original architectural charm.
“We’re thrilled to be back in our old house at 1925 Winnebago St., where we spent more than three decades empowering young people,” said Brian McMahon, Executive Director of Operation Fresh Start. “Being part of the process that’s turning this historic space into a thriving music venue is a powerful reminder of the impact that both OFS and this building have had on the community. It’s a full-circle moment for us, and we’re excited to contribute to this next chapter.”
The renovation of the Atwood Music Hall includes several exciting upgrades, such as an expanded balcony, a stage extension, and state-of-the-art soundproofing to minimize noise disruption to the surrounding area. The design will highlight the building’s original architectural beauty, with a focus on showcasing the cathedral ceiling and creating an intimate atmosphere for music lovers.
