Special Notice: Weekend Road Closures

on South Frontage Road & on Temple Street

South Frontage Road Closure

South Frontage Road will be closed to motor vehicle traffic between College & York Streets beginning at midnight on Saturday, November 19 and ending at 5 a.m. on Monday, November 21. This closure is occurring to allow for the safe operation of a crane.


A simple detour will guide drivers around the one-block closure of South Frontage Road. Escorted access to the loading docks will available for delivery trucks.



Temple Street Closure

On Saturday, November 19, Temple Street will be closed between George Street and Dr. Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard from 6 a.m. until 3 p.m. This closure is also occurring to allow for the safe operation of a crane. On-road signage will guide drivers through the detour of the closed portion of Temple Street.

Overview

Aside from the road closures noted above, no significant changes to the existing traffic patterns are planned to occur over the next week. 


Various lane closures will continue to occur to accommodate construction of 101 College Street; they are listed in more detail immediately below.


LANE CLOSURES

Through Friday, November 25, 2022, lane closures may occur on the following roads to accommodate construction of 101 College Street:


  • South Frontage Road (SFR): double-lane closures on SFR between York and College Streets (Night work).
  • South Frontage Road (SFR): single-lane closures on SFR between College and Church Streets.
  • Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. (MLK) Boulevard: daytime single and double-lane closures between College and Church Streets; multiple lane closures on week-nights, with one lane remaining open at all times.
  • Temple Street: single lane closures on Temple Street between George Street and MLK Boulevard.
  • College Street:  double-lane closures between Crown & George Streets



WORK HOURS

Through Friday, November 25, 2022, Downtown Crossing-related work will occur during both daytime and nighttime work hours.


Daytime work hours are weekdays between 7 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. 


Nighttime work hours are between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m.


Nighttime work is scheduled to occur Sundays beginning at 8 p.m. through Fridays at 6 a.m. every week from now until the end of 2022. 


This night work will occur in two locations and lane closures may occur on:

--on South Frontage Road between York and College Streets

--on MLK Blvd. between Temple and York Streets.


This work is not expected to cause loud noise. Any nighttime work that has the potential to create loud noise will be called out through a special notice at the beginning of all Construction News notices.



Road signage will alert drivers to lane closures in the construction area.
