Tightrope: Elias Sime

Contemporary Ethiopian artist Elias Sime presents his intricately woven and densely layered artworks that draw upon their materiality to comment on humanity, ecological sustainability, and the resilience of nature. The Tightrope series featuring 24 artworks, includes his work from the last decade and is the first Canadian presentation of this exhibition.

India's Painted and Printed Cottons

Featuring pieces from the Museum’s world-renowned collection, and several important international loans, this ROM-original exhibition explores how over thousands of years India’s artisans have created, perfected and innovated these printed and painted multicoloured cotton fabrics to fashion the body, honour divinities, and beautify palaces and homes.

North Atlantic Right Whales & the Dangers of Fishing Gear

Wednesday, July 28, 2021. Join the Canadian Whale Institute’s Mackie Greene in conversation with ROM experts to discuss whale rescue and conservation centred on the Canadian East Coast. The Institute is working alongside major research institutions to support local fisheries in the area and to protect and encourage the stewardship of whales throughout the Maritimes.
