Meet Dashawn Williams! Our Athlete of the Month!

Meet Dashawn Williams, a passionate athlete from Brampton who has been involved with Special Olympics for four years. Dashawn participates in Athletics, Basketball, and Soccer. His favourite thing about Special Olympics is seeing his friends and representing his country in his favourite sports.

His best Special Olympics memory was being announced to Team Canada and being presented at the Gala, an unforgettable experience that recognized his hard work and dedication to his sport. To Dashawn, Special Olympics is a place where he can play his favourite sports with his friends and be part of a community that values inclusion, teamwork, and acceptance.

Positive Mental Health Study for Youth with

Intellectual Disability

We are looking for youth from Canada and the United States (ages 13 to 21) with a diagnosis of intellectual disability. We are also looking for their parents or caregivers to participate.

This is a one-time study where youth can take part in a Zoom interview, and/or parents can complete online questionnaires. For participating, youth receive a personalized well-being map and a gift card.

This research will help better our understanding of well-being and mental health for youth with intellectual disabilities!
