Today is National Indigenous Peoples Day. A day we celebrate the heritage, diverse cultures and achievements of First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples.
We recognize that the need to ensure our acknowledgement and support of Indigenous peoples, including Indigenous athletes and volunteers, is year-round.
Special Olympics Ontario celebrates and champions diversity and inclusion as it is a central pillar to the organization. This includes anti-racism work.
A small, but important and necessary step is acknowledging the land on which we live, play and grow. For us, this means the land where we practice, compete, work and host Games.
We continue to be committed to learning, unlearning, educating and providing platforms for dialogue to ensure that all our members and future members are given opportunities to feel included and to succeed.
