Special Olympics Athlete Spotlight

This month, Special Olympics Ontario is highlighting Barrie athlete Nicholas Cunningham and his outstanding contribution to the Barrie Police Service. Nick has been working with the Fleet Services team in the garage and with the Quartermaster since April 2022. His work has made a substantial impact on the Barrie Police Service team.

Reveal Your Champion Cycle Challenge

It's not too late! There are still a couple weeks left to register! This cycling program is open to all Special Olympics athletes and Unified partners! Together, you'll be able to track your distance and time cycling as you strive to reach your goals - challenge your friends and family to get involved and participate. You'll also have the chance to win some great prizes, so get up and get moving today!

Twitter Follower Contest 

To celebrate National Social Media Day on June 30th, Special Olympics Ontario kicked off a Social Media Contest on Twitter. The contest will continue until the Special Olympics Ontario Twitter account has reached 10,000 total followers. 

To enter the contest you must:

1. Follow @SOOntario on Twitter
2. Retweet the Contest Tweet (click here to view the contest tweet)
3. Reside in Canada

You could win a Special Olympics Ontario prize pack once we reach 9,600 followers, and the grand prize of a $250 Sobeys gift card when we reach 10,000 followers!

In order to maximize funds raised for Special Olympics, there will be an exciting online auction. The auction will open July 18th and closes at 6 p.m. on July 28th. Don’t miss out! Items will continue to be added, so check back on a regular basis.

Sobeys Fundraising Campaign Results 

Sobeys held a 2 week in-store fundraising campaign to support Special Olympics athletes across Canada. The results are in, and together we reached our fundraising goal, raising $1.2 million! A big thank you goes out to Sobeys and all the donors who helped to support Special Olympics athletes. We would also like to thank all of the athletes, coaches and volunteers who took the time to visit their local Sobeys, Safeway and Foodland locations to thank the store employees for their support!
