The De La Salle School's Mother-Son/Special Persons Valentine Dance was once again a tremendous and enjoyable success. Over fifty percent of our students escorted a special lady to this annual event that was held on Thursday, 13 February. Our principal, Mrs. Jeanmarie Becker, temporarily stepped out of that role putting on her dancing instructor's shoes. She introduced our fifth-grade students to the box-step and waltz while refreshing the memories of our sixth, seventh and eighth grade students preparing them for a wonderful evening. The cha-cha and the merengue were danced with style and elegance in the school gymnasium which had been decorated by our faculty in a Valentines theme and transformed to resemble a magnificent ballroom. Much joy and excitement was displayed by all with the opportunity to participate in various line dances as well as the good old fashioned Limbo. It was a special evening for all those who attended.
Last week school was closed in honor of Presidents week and for the annual Winter Break. We returned from break this week and spent time in our morning assembly preparing the students for the season of Lent. Ash Wednesday the student body and the staff of The De La Salle School joined the parishioners of Our Holy Redeemer parish in prayer at the 12:10 PM mass during which they received blessed ashes on their foreheads. Some of our students assisted with the service as altar servers, lectors and participants in the offertory procession. During this Lenten season, we will continue our usual practice of attending the 12:10 PM parish Mass every Friday that school is in session. We welcome all to join us at mass as our students participate as lectors and servers. As part of our alms giving the students will once again collect funds for Mwangaza College, a fellow Lasallian school in Nakuru, Kenya.
Peace and blessings from The De La Salle School to your family this Lenten season!
