In an effort to assist providers in navigating limited availability due to rising demand for GLP-1 receptor agonists, the AHP/URMC Pharmacy team is providing our network’s primary care providers with guidance on available alternatives, dosage recommendations, and alternative regimens.

Novo Nordisk, the manufacturer of Ozempic ® and Wegovy ®, shared that increased demand and manufacturing supply chain issues have led to a growing shortage of its GLP-1 receptor agonists. Some demand is being driven by the weight loss benefits seen with these agents being touted through various social media outlets. The shortage is starting to cascade to other agents within the GLP-1 agonist group of therapeutics. Attached is a reference sheet to help you navigate the shortage, which is looking to persist through the first quarter of 2023.
