Dear Clergy, Vestry Members, Ministry Leaders, and School Administrators,
The Standing Committee has approved an initiative proposed by a lay member of the Cathedral to help all of us “know each other” more fully across our island communities. We believe that by sharing brief, consistent profiles of every congregation, mission, and school, we can deepen our connections, celebrate our diversity, and strengthen our common life in Christ.
What We’re Asking
Please designate one or two lay representatives to prepare a 200–300-word profile that answers these questions:
- Who are you?
- Where are you?
- Who do you serve?
- Is there anything about your history you want people to know?
In answering the questions above, it will be helpful to refer to the attached guide HERE (or view further below) for assessing the vitality and viability of a congregation. This guide was created by a Diocesan Task Group to help with self-reflection.
How to Submit
Please send your completed profile as a plain text document to news@episcopalhawaii.org by October 1, 2025. Your submission will be featured in upcoming diocesan newsletter editions of the Hawaiian ChurchChronicle. Your submission will be accompanied with other podcasts and video links of your organization created by the clergy and lay members within the Diocese.
After publication, the information and related video links will be included in your church or school information on the Diocesan website on pages such as Our Churches or Our Schools.
What is the purpose of this initiative?
We believe the expansion of information of each member church, mission, or school will help individuals or groups:
- Looking at the Diocesan website to find a church that they are most comfortable attending and/or joining
- Send their children to an appropriate school fitting their interests
- Bring volunteers and donations to our ministries and mission organizations
- Provide helpful information to supply clergy visiting a congregation
- Strengthen connections between our churches, ministries, and schools
Thank you for your partnership in this effort to weave a richer tapestry of shared stories across our Diocese. We look forward to learning more about your church, school, ministry, and mission.
In Christ’s service,
Standing Committee
