FROM THE DESK OF OUR EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
Champions in the Classroom
Every year, I look forward to celebrating the hard work and achievements of our All-American Scholars. I am always so incredibly proud of the remarkable commitment thousands of our young student-athletes make to their academics, and no more so than these past few years which brought challenges of remote schooling and limited interaction with friends and teammates. It’s an exciting time, and one I hope you all get to enjoy with family and friends.

In the midst of this year’s celebration, I was asked “what does it mean to be a student-athlete?” [Read more...]
SPECIAL FEATURE: SCHOLASTICS EDITION
I Volunteer Because...
Pop Warner wouldn't exist without the tireless effort of our wonderful volunteers. We love to celebrate these remarkable community leaders. In this issue we feature:

Neville Clothier, Eastern Region Scholastics Coordinator
Region: Eastern
I’m often asked why I spend almost all of my “free time” volunteering for Pop Warner; here are a few of the reasons:

  • My daughter – I started volunteering for Pop Warner 29 years ago when my daughter was a PeeWee cheerleader for the Troy Patriots in the Capital District Pop Warner league. The VP from the organization saw me at all the practices and gave me a job.
  • Pop Warner – There are many organizations vying for volunteers, but I chose to volunteer for Pop Warner because I believe in the organization and what it stands for (its right there in the name) – Pop Warner LITTLE SCHOLARS… The Pop Warner scholastic program is a differentiator when compared to other youth sports organizations and one of the many reasons that I volunteer.
  • Smiles – If you’ve ever seen the smile on a young football player that made a good block or a cheerleader that hit a stunt they’ve been practicing or the smile on the face of a scholar athlete when they are recognized for their academic achievements, then you know what I’m talking about.
  • Rewarding – There is nothing more rewarding than knowing that children are able to participate in because I’m one of the volunteers that makes it possible. (See also Smiles above 😊)

Remember - There are no unimportant volunteer jobs - every volunteer is important!
Why do you volunteer? Feel free to let us know at [email protected].

USC QB Nelson Talks Pop Warner Days
