Two-Man Play
During Worship

This year Westminster has a very special Palm/Passion Sunday in store for you. Pastor Scott and Pastor Bill will present a Tenebrae play as an act of worship. The service depicts the events that led to the crucifixion. 
Easter Volunteers Needed

Your assistance is needed to help make Easter a success! Volunteers are needed to:

  • Bake cookies/treats for the Easter Reception.

  • Refill Cookies and Punch at the reception before or after worship services.

  • Help at a station at the Easter Story Celebration between services.

  • Help in the Nursery during Easter services.

  • Greet Guests and answer questions at the Welcome Center

Procession for Peace
April 14, 2:45 p.m.
at Central Presbyterian

This Sunday the Des Moines Faith Committee for Peace will gather at 2:45 p.m. at Central Presbyterian Church and walk to Plymouth Congregational UCC Church “To Love and Defend our Sacred Earth." in a Procession led by a donkey, followed by a Prayer Service for Peace. Westminster is a proud sponsor of this event.

The Work of the Deacons
Sometimes the Deacons are so busy working behind the scenes, that the congregation doesn’t realize that the Deacons are a very active group, who are doing our best to care for our members. 
Hungarian Mission Trip
Our next Mission Trip will be from August 22-30, 2019.    The Hungarian Mission Team would like to thank all of those who have made donations to support our on-going mission work in Szeged, Hungary. 
The "Colors of Jesus" Exhibit
The Visual Arts Committee announces a new display in the Westminster Gallery for Lent, Holy Week and Easter. Entitled “The Colors of Jesus,” the exhibit features works of art in an array of colors representing aspects of Jesus’ life and teachings. Week 5 (starting April 7) is Red for Love and Green for Forgiveness .
Ladies' Lunch Out

Refugee Garden Work Day
Join us Saturday, April 13, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. as we work in our Refugee Garden in the North Parking Lot.
Group Information
Westminster is a fairly large church with nearly 1100 members. Small groups help bring the church down to a manageable size. We have numerous groups that bring together folks with similar interests.

Presbyterian Women:   Eve Circle   meets the fourth Tuesday of the month at 7:00 p.m. in Simmerman Lounge. Their next meeting is April 23.
GLSA   The Gay-Lesbian-Straight Affirmation Group will meet Sunday, April 28, at 10:30 a.m. in Simmerman Lounge. All are welcome! To learn more about the group  click here .
Men's Group meets Wednesday evenings at 6:15 p.m. in the Seminary Center. Their next first-Wednesday-of-the-month breakfast meeting is at 6:30 a.m. on May 1 at the Waveland Cafe on University.
Presbyterian Women:   Hope Circle meets Thursday, May 2 at 10:00 a.m., in Simmerman Lounge. If you are interested in joining a PW Circle, please call the church office at 274-1534.
20s/30s Group meets The 1st and 3rd Sundays of the month after worship. Their next gathering is this Sunday, May 5. If you have any questions please, e-mail Lisa at LAnderson@westpres.org
Pizza Lovers' Group meets the second Tuesday of the month. Their next meeting is May 14, at 5:15 p.m., at Godfather's on University in Des Moines.
Restaurant Group 1 meets the first Saturday of the month. Their next gathering is being planned.
Restaurant Group 2 meets the third Saturday of the month. Their next gathering is being planned.
Men’s Basketball meets every Monday at 6:30 p.m. in The Commons. The group will not meet Monday, April 22, as the church will be closed on Easter Monday.
