Building the Future of Greenfield's Outdoor Spaces

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who contributed to the success of our 2025 Auction: Growing Greenfield Together. Thanks to the generosity of you and all our donors, we raised a record-breaking $125,000 to advance our playground restoration project—our best year yet!

Following our successful fundraising efforts, we are excited to share the latest updates that include fundraising totals and goals, next steps, and new renderings and images that offer a glimpse of the inspiring final space we envision for our community.

Project Overview

Last year, we began the planning and fundraising for a complete renovation of Greenfield’s playground and outdoor spaces, which are vital assets to our school and community. After fifteen years of wear and tear, these areas are in need of a fresh upgrade to ensure safety, enjoyment, and continued community engagement.  

Big Updates

• Architectural Work Complete:  Our architects–Josh Ketchum and Megan Born, two Greenfield parent volunteers; and AKRF, a firm with deep district experience–have completed the 90% design documents for submission to the District.  Check out the updated renderings below!
• 2026 Construction Plan:  At the district’s suggestion and to optimize cost efficiency, we are shifting our construction schedule to the summer of 2026 and will execute the project in a single phase rather than dividing it into two over two years (our original plan). This will streamline the process and maximize resources. So, no bulldozers this summer, but a big push next year.
• District Engagement:  We’ve formally submitted and received design comments from the district’s office of capital projects.  We now need to work through a few other district offices and the school board for approval early in the 2025-2026 SY for formal approval to move forward.

Fundraising

With the 2025 Auction–along with generous new gifts from the Leo Niessen, Jr. Charitable Trust as well as several generous community members–we have now raised a total of $675,000.  We’re still seeking to raise another $295,000 to complete the work.  See below for how you can help!
