With all of the discussions surrounding vaccine mandates in Florida, the FAFP felt it was appropriate to re-release a timely lecture presented by FAFP Past President Dr. Christy Cavanagh at the FAFP 2025 Summer Forum: "Navigating the Vaccine Conversation: Responding to 10 Common Parental Concerns". This information will:
- help identify and understand the common reasons parents refuse childhood vaccines, including misconceptions about vaccine safety, religious beliefs, and misinformation.
- review evidence-based communication techniques to address parents’ concerns empathetically and effectively, fostering trust and open dialogue
- assist family physicians in providing parents with accurate, up-to-date information about vaccine safety and efficacy, using clear, non-technical language to dispel myths and provide reassurance
This information is aligned with the FAFP's recent advisory on Florida's vaccine requirements and how the Academy is responding to the prospect of removing vaccine mandates for children in Florida.
