Greetings!
Today, Free Methodist delegates to the General Conference received the names of the candidates to replace Bishop Kenneth Martin for the remainder of his term. We are writing to let you know that Ricardo’s name is on that list. (To read the official announcement, please click the button below.)
Ricardo and I began our missionary journey in 2006. We served five years in Chile and seven years in Colombia before Ricardo was appointed Latin America Area Director in 2019. We are deeply content and fulfilled in the ministry God has entrusted to us. Over the years, we have developed a strong structure and an exceptional leadership team, marked by a shared culture of dependence on God. We have intentionally invested in the next generation of leaders who are prepared to step in at any time to continue stewarding God’s work throughout the region. At the same time, we remain excited about the many ways God is still restoring and transforming Latin America—and how we may continue to participate in that work.
Yet we are open to God’s direction and have sensed His leading to accept this nomination. Regardless of the outcome, we are humbled by the confidence the church has already expressed in Ricardo’s ministry through this process. We trust fully in God’s sovereignty and believe that the delegate's votes will reflect His will. Whomever is elected will begin serving as bishop on June 1, 2026.
In the meantime, we want to reassure you that we remain fully committed to serving the Lord and representing you in Latin America until He clearly redirects us. With that in mind, we invite you to:
- Pray with us for God’s wisdom and guidance—not only for us, but also for the other candidates and the delegates who will be voting in March.
- Continue partnering with us through prayer and financial support for our ministry support account. (Please use the Give Here button at the bottom to make a donation or the Make a Commitment button to schedule your 2026 giving.)
- Pray for our ongoing ministry (please see the travel schedule below), for our kids as they remain in ice-covered Kentucky, and for our health as winter colds have set in.
In addition to our regular missionary newsletters, we will keep you informed about the election results in March and any next steps. If you have questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
We are deeply grateful for each of you and for the ways you walk alongside us.
With gratitude and blessings,
Ricardo and Beth Gómez
