Dear St. Giles Families,
For more than nine decades, St. Giles School has drawn its strength from our Lions family: the students, families, alumni, parishioners, and neighbors. This community support has enabled us to continue our tradition of excellence and provide an outstanding, faith-based education to every St. Giles student.
The cost of providing a quality education rises each year. To address this reality, throughout the year, the St. Giles Development Committee works to raise critical funds that go directly to offset costs, including:
Providing tuition assistance for the growing number of families in need;
- Updating curriculum, texts, and other teaching materials;
- Providing updated technology in our computer lab, Wi-Fi-enabled outdoor classroom, smartboards, and Chromebooks;
- Ensuring strong core academics, sacramental preparation, art, music, and athletic programs;
- Staff training and classroom improvements to provide safe learning spaces
We prayerfully ask every St. Giles School family to make charitable gifts to the school, separate from tuition. While we know this charitable support may be a challenge for many in our school community, working in unity we can be good stewards and preserve the academic and faith traditions of St. Giles School. As you reflect on and prepare for the full year, please note the variety of giving opportunities planned for the 2023-2024 school year:
- Lion's Leap (September 28-29) is our annual Fun Run and obstacle course. We encourage students to collect pledges for laps with a goal of raising a total of $90,000.
- Great Grades Parties (September/October) are our adults-only gatherings for each grade, hosted by a school family and designed to give our community an opportunity to meet and mingle with each other. A $30 per person donation is suggested. Dates for this year’s parties are posted on the school calendar in the Family Portal.
- Teacher Appreciation Fund (November/December) is a PTO-sponsored effort that provides a financial bonus to every teacher and staff member at St. Giles School, honoring the financial sacrifice they make to each of our students.
- Black & Gold Pride is the school’s largest fundraiser, raising more than $100,000 annually. This year’s event will be held on March 9, 2024!
In addition to these important events that help to sustain our school and the quality education provided, the PTO hosts events throughout the year that provide support to our teachers and their classrooms. The school calendar found in the Family Portal is always available to help you plan for the year ahead.
The first opportunity to give is just a few weeks away – you’ll hear more about Lion’s Leap in the coming days and will receive additional information on how your family can participate.
In gratitude,
The St. Giles School Development Committee
