Free Vaccine Clinic on Aug. 20
Sister to Sister 2 is hosting a free, popup COVID-19 vaccination clinic on Friday, Aug. 20, from 10 am – 3 pm at Serenity House in Oakland. They’re particularly hoping to serve unhoused people and formerly incarcerated women. They’ll offer hot meals and gift cards for those who get vaccinated.

Learn About Community Solar on Aug. 17
On Tuesday, Aug. 17, from 11 am – 12 pm, East Bay Community Energy will be hosting a virtual information session for community-based organizations interested in serving as prospective sponsors of their Community Solar program.
This upcoming program is designed to improve access to renewable energy with the potential to receive a 20% discount on the sponsor's electricity bill. For details, visit their website.

Starting in September, Eden I&R will be co-hosting a free, online training series on emergency preparedness.
This series is designed for nonprofit employees, volunteers, and other interested community members. People with access and functional needs are encouraged to participate.

Meet New Members of our Leadership Team
Gitanjali Rawat, our Director of Programs, brings more than 12 years of experience in both the corporate and social sectors. Prior to Eden I&R, Gitanjali managed the Western Region program for Upwardly Global, an organization that provides workforce services for low-income immigrant and refugee communities.
Gitanjali will work closely with the leadership team, supporting our growing programs and building strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

211 Associate Director Robert Moltzen started his career in homeless services in 2017, providing intensive case management to individuals in East Palo Alto. He then served as manager at one of the largest shelters in San Mateo County.
Robert is now applying his skills to help Alameda County.

A woman in Oakland facing eviction called for help. She has a physical disability, Medi-Cal/Kaiser for her healthcare and receives Cal-Fresh. 211 staff referred her to Bay Area Legal Aid (Housing Legal Assistance), Coronavirus information emergency tenant protections and resources for renters, and Centro Legal De La Raza Tenants Right Project.

“The Hayward Operated Paratransit program (HOP) made it possible for me to visit my husband while he was in the hospital. The program is well run and very dependable. 211 staff are friendly and do a great job getting me a Lyft or an Uber. … Please continue your service. You are making a huge difference for many seniors.”
Since July 2020, the city of Hayward has contracted with Eden I&R/211 Alameda County to answer calls for its HOP, scheduling rides on Lyft and Uber for the city’s clients who receive subsidized rides.

AHIP (AIDS Housing Information Project)
|
|
AHIP (AIDS Housing Information Project) offers housing and human services resource referrals to People Living with HIV/AIDS via a designated phone line and through one-on-one, in-person assistance at clinics and AIDS Service Organizations.
Last month, AHIP completed 169 calls and 6 face-to-face meetings with clients, provided 667 housing referrals and 157 referrals to services. AHIP completed 1 housing placement, 3 site visits and assisted 3 clients with Coordinated Entry System navigation and document readiness. Year to date, AHIP has provided assistance to 115 unduplicated clients.
