During Domestic Violence Awareness Month, YWCA Evanston/North Shore presents PRIVATE VIOLENCE, an Emmy nominated film which emphasizes the stigma domestic violence still carries for its victims. The film tells the stories of two women: Deanna, a victim turned survivor, and Kit Gruelle, a survivor who advocates for justice on behalf of Deanna and other battered women. Highlighting the complex, frustrating realities of the abuse women suffer every day at the hands of intimate partners, the film also documents the difficulties of prosecuting domestic violence cases.

The screening will include a post-film discussion with YWCA staff:

Sandy T. Williams, Domestic Violence Residential and Community Services Director
Wendy Dickson, Domestic Violence Outreach and Education Director

Tickets are $15 and include reception, film, and discussion.
