A Word from the CEO
Happy Passover! Passover is a Festival of Freedom, celebrating our ancestors' escape from slavery in ancient Egypt. As the CEO of the Joint Retirement Board, I think of the lessons of Passover in terms of building financial freedom for you so you have the flexibility to fulfill your dreams and goals in retirement.
One Passover lesson is the importance of leadership. Moses was the essential intermediary between God, Pharaoh and the Jewish people. Similarly, the success of the JRB depends heavily upon the prudent fiduciary judgement and generous commitment of time our volunteer Board of Trustees provides. In this issue, we introduce the three newest Trustees of the Board.
Creating financial flexibility in retirement requires that you take distributions in a way that provides sufficient income over many years. It makes a big difference if you can take advantage of the higher, long-term returns stocks provide yet have a cushion of safety during periods of stock market volatility. A Time Segmentation Strategy, as described in the article below, is one way to accomplish this goal.
We are pleased to announce that the spring Israel Bonds Offering is now underway. The interest rate will be announced on May 15; the Offering closes on May 24. The JRB Board of Trustees voted to increase the maximum purchase in each Offering (Spring and Fall) from $25,000 to $30,000, for a maximum annual purchase of $60,000. Watch your email on May 15 for the interest rate announcement.
Finally, I will be attending the 77th Annual Cantors Assembly Convention in Minneapolis, MN from May 19 - 23. If you'd like to meet with me for a consultation, please contact our office.
If you have questions about how to take distributions from your retirement account, Israel Bonds or your overall financial goals, please contact us via email or call us at 888-JRB-FREE (572-3733).
