Registration for the 30-Day Challenge is now Live
Greetings!

It's finally here after months of planning and working with sponsors and partners. The Spinal Network Virtual 30-Day Challenge is officially open for registration. You can click on this link to register. https://runsignup.com/Race/CA/Anywhere/SpinalNetworkChallenge

We've tried to include something for everyone, if you enjoy the walk, roll, run, bike or swim, then the 5K, 10K or full marathon might be for you. Not sure you could complete this type of challenge, you will have the entire month of June to do it. Not a distance person, then maybe the fitness challenge (you decide what that would entail) or the book reading challenge or maybe it's the volunteer hour challenge. If nothing here excites you and you have an idea for a personal challenge, register for the event and click on the custom tab, set your own goals. This is all about inclusion, not exclusion.

We want this to be fun because let's face it, we all deserve some fun right about now. There will be a costume photo contest (dress up while working on your challenge) and a best pet photo contest (put the bandana from your swag box on your pet and take them along while working on your challenge).

This is our first ever real fundraiser, be a part of the Spinal Network family and help us expand our services. We want to share with the paralysis community and those who support us by planning a summer filled with all sorts of fun activities like potlucks, BBQ's, hikes, bowling and maybe even some indoor skydiving.

You can participate individually or get some friends together and register as a team.

Sincerely,

Rick Hayden
Executive Director

Critters & Cocktails - bring your pets :)
Let's give this a try, Friday late afternoon (or evening anywhere west of the pacific time zone), it was a hard week and you need a bit of down time, grab a drink, bring your pet and hang out for a while. The conversation will be light and those hanging out will be the very coolest...but that goes without saying.
Have You Registered for the Spinal Network Challenge 2021? If Not Just Click on the Button Below
We're all tired of being cooped up for the last year so now it's time to spread out a bit and have some fun. Click the link below and register for the Spinal Network Virtual 30-Day Challenge. Get outside every day or so and log some miles, the event will last for the entire month of June....that could be a lot of miles. Not into the distance thing, join the fitness challenge where you will decide what activities you want to include...still not hooked, how about a book reading challenge or a volunteer hour challenge. How many books can you read in 30 days or how many hours can you log as a volunteer in 30 days. If you still aren't hooked, let me know what kind of challenge you'd like to participate in...so now it's time to hit that button and get yourself registered. Oh and by the way, you'll have some swag coming your way.

Are You Prepared for an Emergency?
Take the Survey and See.
Hello Advocates,

United Spinal is looking for help in expanding their Ready to Roll initiative, in order to help individuals living with SCI/SCID across the country be better prepared for emergency situations. Specifically, we are looking for people to share any stories that you may have about your experience in an emergency situation, as well as any tips or tricks that you may have on how to address certain situations as someone using a wheelchair.

For example, an advocate from Northern California shared a story about having to evacuate his home due to wildfire threats, and told me how handy it was to keep spare tires in his van and how frustrating it was to not have a fully accessible evacuation center. No story is too small, no tip is insufficient. We appreciate anything you have to share!

If you are interested in sharing, please use this survey form. If you have any questions, or would be interested in providing more information, please reach out to Kristina at kericson@unitedspinal.org
