Holy Spirit Parish Weekly Newsletter

A powerful and mysterious time of year is upon us. As we watch the world "dead" in winter slowly reawake and come back to life, we ponder in wonder Our God who took death upon Himself so that we may have Hope of Life that Never Ends!

As these days are the holiest in the year - the Church has some seemingly specific rules as to what can/cannot be done liturgically. Take a look below at the end of this email to see not only "what" we do differently but the deeper "why".

There is a new scholarship opportunity from our Ladies Guild! As always, check out our Events Page below that is updated weekly so you can know what is coming up.

Here's this week's update with what's going on with the Parish.

Why "Good" Friday if Jesus Suffered and Died?

My grandson wants to know why we call it Good Friday when it is the day on which Jesus suffered and died. That's a good question. Because we immediately see the suffering and death Jesus endured for us on that day, which understandably brings us-or should bring us-great sorrow.

May the Blessed Sacrament Be Exposed on Good Friday?

May the Blessed Sacrament be exposed on Good Friday? No. Solemn exposition of the Blessed Sacrament, which entails exposition of the Holy Eucharist, may not take place after midnight on Holy Thursday. Following the evening Mass of the Lord's Supper on Holy Thursday, there is a Eucharistic procession to the place of repose, such as the parish hall.

How to Do Holy Week Right

"And you shall know that I am the Lord, when I open your graves, and raise you from your graves, O my people" (Ezek. 37:13). "You shall know that I am the Lord." That's a common refrain in the prophets.
