June 9 St Ephrem the Syrian.jpg

St. Ephrem

Saint Ephrem was ordained a deacon, but refused ordination to the priesthood. He was a teacher, defender of the faith, and a prolific writer. He refuted many heresies of his day, often through the lyrics of hymns that he wrote.

Apostles Who Weren't Part of the Twelve?

Paul and Barnabas are both set apart ministry together, on the instructions of the Holy Spirit, in Acts 13. The paralleling of the two suggests the two have the same office, and this is confirmed in the next chapter, as the men of Lystra attempt to worship them as gods.

Some Thoughts for Reflection

Explaining the Trinity

(As Much As We Can)

In Catholic theology, we understand the persons of the Blessed Trinity subsisting within the inner life of God to be truly distinct relationally, but not as a matter of essence, or nature. Each of the three persons in the godhead possesses the same eternal and infinite divine nature; thus, they are the one, true God in essence or nature, not "three Gods."

Do Catholic's have a PERSONAL Relationship with Jesus?

Personal Relationship - The Point of the Sacred Heart

Catholics can be criticized for not having a personal relationship with God. That is unfortunate - as that is the main point of our Faith and why He gave us the Eucharist.

The devotion to the Sacred Heart (to which June is dedicated too.) is a wonderful way to deepen your relationship with Jesus.

Do the words "relationship" and "God" together freak you out or confuse you?

Should Catholics attend 'Pride' events?

We as Catholics are called to love like Christ, with courageous self sacrifice.

So what does that look like when dealing with "Pride" events that severely contradict God's loving plan for marriage?

Why Christ Will Never Let His Bride Redefine Marriage

In my previous post, " Why the Catholic Church Defined Marriage," I noted that the Roman pagan world, into which the Church was born, had monogamy, but not the Christian understanding of monogamy-and that's why the Catholic Church had to properly define marriage 2000 years ago by redefining it against the pagan culture.

St. Ephrem the Syrian Quote.jpg

According to thy mercy, pour out upon me, who am miserable, at least one small drop of grace to make me understand and be converted, that I might make at least some small effort to correct myself. For if thy grace does not illumine my soul, I will not be able to see the carelessness and negligence that the passions have produced in me through my apathy and recklessness."
