Hi everyone, my name is Jenny Kirchoff and our family is one of the OG Meridian families! My husband Cameron and I live in Georgetown with our kids Aiden (9th grade), Asher (8th grade) and Amelia (2nd grade). We learned about Meridian through an ad in the Community Impact newspaper and I just knew that it was a school I wanted to learn more about.
Luckily, Aiden was picked in the first lottery and was in the first Kindergarten class. My journey in volunteering was a slower one being that once Asher started Kinder, Amelia was born. I loved getting in my hours donating to the Staff Appreciation Lunches, helping the teachers with anything they needed from home and being involved in the Wellness Day shirt initiative.
I joined the Staff Appreciation Committee once Amelia was in preschool and have been part of that ever since. Two years ago I took the position as Secretary of the VIP because I felt a call to become more involved with what’s going on at Meridian. This year I am excited to move into a new role as the High School Rep. My favorite part of volunteering is all the relationships I’ve made with the parent community. I’ve made friends that I probably would have never known, being that our kids are in different grades.
Building these relationships with others makes the school feel more like a home, especially in these different times we are living in right now. I’m inviting YOU to step out of your comfort zone. Volunteering looks different right now, but there are still many opportunities to help out!
