From Pastor Kevin's Desk

Spirit of Hope Lutheran Church community,

A friendly reminder that signups for short meetings before and after Saturday and Sunday worship remain in the Narthex. These are short 5-minute introductory meetings where I simply want to hear from you. I encourage you to sign up for this time to come and share. This is an important part of my getting to know you all and beginning to hear your stories.

Additionally, the Spirit of Hope office hours are as follows:

  • Closed Sunday (Worship at 9:30AM with fellowship after service)
  • Closed Monday
  • Tuesday: 9:00AM – 5:00PM
  • Wednesday: 12:00PM – 5:00PM
  • Thursday: 9:00AM – 5:00PM
  • Friday: 9:00AM – 5:00PM
  • Saturday: 1:00PM – 4:00PM (Fellowship at 4:30PM and worship at 5:00PM)

I had a trip scheduled prior to accepting the call at Spirit of Hope. I have modified that trip to ensure I am here for worship and back in the office by the end of the week. I will be out of the office on 10/30 and 10/31 – back for worship on 11/1 and 11/2 – and again out of the office 11/3-11/5. You can still reach out via phone or email in an emergency. I will be back in the office on 11/6.

Grace and peace,

Pastor Kevin Anderson

Memorial for Terry Williams

Please join us on Friday, November 21 at 11:00 AM at Spirit of Hope as we gather to remember and celebrate the life of Terry Williams, who passed away last spring. Terry touched so many lives at Spirit of Hope and his community with kindness, laughter, and unwavering spirit.

We invite you to bring a story, memory, or moment that reminds you of Terry. Whether heartfelt, humorous, or inspiring, your reflections will help us celebrate the beautiful legacy Terry leaves behind. A light luncheon will follow.

Let’s come together in love, remembrance, and gratitude.

Do You Have a Prayer Request?

We’re formalizing a prayer list for Spirit of Hope members and those closely connected to our community. This will be an internal communication shared within our congregation. If you’d like to be added to the prayer list, please contact Pastor Kevin at prkevin@spiritofhopelutheran.com.

If you wish to add someone else, please check with them first to be sure they’d like to be included. Thank you for helping us lift one another in prayer and support within our community.

Bible Study with Pastor Kevin

Bible Study resumes on November 11th at 10:30AM in the Sanctuary.

RESCHEDULED! “God’s Work, Our Hands—And Rakes!"

The Church Yard Work Day is RESCHEDULED for Saturday, November 8th at 6:30 am. If you have them, please bring saws, hedge trimmers, loppers and rakes with you. The church has plenty of long extension cords. Water and cookies will be provided. Many hands make light work! Bring your energy and join us!

From Outreach & Fellowship Committees...

A huge "Thank You" to the congregation for donating to the Shoe Box/Skyline High School Care Team! All the items were blessed by Pastor Kevin at the Sunday morning service, Nov. 2, with Sgt. Laura Cervantes and her family present. A second "thank you" goes out to Co-Chairs, Debbie Kravac and Vicki Camacho and their helpers, for a job well done! Here is a list of what was donated: 20 backpacks, a dozen gatorades, 17 bags of personal products & dry goods, and $1,000 worth of fast-food gift cards. Sgt. Cervantes extended a very touching thank you to our congregation, from her and her Care Team, for assisting and touching the many young lives in Skyline High School.

 Looking for a Choir Director!

Our pianist, Donna, has asked if anyone might be able to help serve as our Choir Director as it is difficult to direct the choir and play the piano at the same time. If you have experience directing and are interested in serving, please reach out to the church office.

Hey there, friend! In a world that can sometimes feel overwhelming, it's essential to remember that you're loved, you're valued, and you're enough. God loves you more than words can express, and that love is the foundation of your worth and identity. As you go about your day, remember to breathe in that love, let it fill your heart, and then share it with those around you. A kind word, a listening ear, or a helping hand can go a long way in brightening someone's day."

"Let's be the ripple effect of love and kindness in a world that needs it now more than ever. Share a smile, offer a hug, or simply be present for someone who needs it. You have the power to make a difference in someone's life, and that difference can be life-changing. So, go out there and spread the love! You got this, and God is with you every step of the way."

~ Wendy

Did You Know???

The Grand Canyon Synod (which Spirit of Hope is part of) is a very active community of 89 churches in Arizona, Nevada and Utah. There is always much going on. The Synod has a website that posts all the news of the synod. The link to the website is here: Grand Canyon Synod of the ELCA and if you click on "News" in the toolbar, you will find a link called "Get Our Newsletter". The Bishop's office puts out a weekly newsletter chock full of GCS happenings! And you can have it sent right to your email!

When you get a chance, take a look and see all the good things happening in Our Church!

Spirit of Hope communicates electronically in many ways!

First - this newsletter is created weekly! You can receive it electronically via email or view the current and past newsletters on the Church Website www.spiritofhopelutheran.com under the "Newsletter" link. You can register to receive the newsletter on the main church website page - www.spiritofhopelutheran.com. Click on the "Click Here to Subscribe to Our Weekly E-Newsletter" button.

Second - Our website has so much useful information and is a great source of all things Spirit of Hope. You can see what's going on, view the 9:30 church service live, or view past services, or find a list of helpful resources.

Third - Spirit of Hope has TWO Facebook pages! One is public and you can find it by searching in Facebook for Spirit of Hope Lutheran Church. Don't forget to click on "Follow". The other Facebook page is PRIVATE, meaning you need to request access or be invited. Search for Spirit of Hope and/or contact Tina Gilson with questions (tinag963@gmail.com).

Fourth- the church website has an app for your phone! In the Apple App Store or Play the Android Play Store and search for the "Our Church" app. Once downloaded you will be prompted to search for your church. You will have the church website in a phone-friendly format at your fingertips! Pretty cool, huh?
