The season of Lent

In the darkness of life, let God shine through you this season as we are drawn closer to Christ, in love and humble gratitude for all that Jesus has done for us. After all, Christ took on our, pain and brokenness, accepted and encountered the cross in order to redeem us and the world form the evils of sin and death. Through Christ’s sacrifice we are free to love and serve God and each other!  Come and follow me.

Lent is a time for all Christians to reflect on our blessings. The Lenten season is also a time where we can challenge ourselves to simple Lenten Disciplines. It is a time where we can grow in our spirituality.

Lent is traditionally a period to remember Christ's forty days in the wilderness. Many people discipline themselves during this church season by giving something up as a sacrifice as Jesus sacrificed himself. The primary focus for Lent , however, should not simply be giving up one of our pleasures in life, but to rededicate our very lives to Christ as God's faithful Children

God in My Hands

When I was ready to give up on the Church, it was the sacraments that pulled me back.

When my faith had become a little more than an abstraction, a set of propositions to be affirmed or denied, the tangible, tactile nature of the sacraments invited me to touch, smell, taste, hear, and see God in the stuff of everyday life again. They got God out of my head and into my hands. They reminded me that Christianity isn’t meant to simply be believed; it’s meant to be lived, shared, eaten, spoken, and enacted in the presence of other people. They reminded me that, try as I may, I can’t be a Christian on my own.

A Word from the Women's Bible Study

By Dar Stucke

Trust in the Lord with all your heart; and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will direct your paths. Proverbs 3:5-6

This scripture verse tells us how we can be assured of divine guidance. Our trust is not to be in man, a creed or a code of ethics, but in our Lord Jesus. We can trust Him for He keeps His Word. We are to trust Him with all our hearts—we are to have undivided hearts. “Lean on, trust and be confident in the Lord with all your heart and mind” (verse 5a, Amplified). We are not to lean on our own understanding, for it is not a sufficient guide through the perplexities of this world. “Do not rely on your own insight or understanding” (vs. 5b Amplified).

We are to acknowledge Him in all our ways. To acknowledge Him means to commit our way to Him, to put Him first in everything. We are to acknowledge Him in our ambitions, choices and decisions; in our homes, in our relationships with others, in our friendships. God has promised that if we keep our part, He will keep His—we are guaranteed His direction.

Three college students visiting Switzerland were killed in a fall over a mountain precipice. They tried to make a dangerous assent without a guide. Lacking the knowledge, skill and experience needed, they came to disaster. How foolish they were to undertake such a venture without an experienced guide! Yet sometimes we are equally foolish. We try to make life’s journey without our Guide. We lean on our own wisdom or that of a friend. We try to direct our own ways and we come to disaster. Reliance on God brings guidance from Him. “In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct and make straight and plain your paths” (vs. 6, Amplified).

Dear God, It is so easy to venture out on my own and to think I know how to do things my way. This is dangerous business. Draw me back to You, with the full knowledge that You are the only one to be in charge. I know that reliance on You will bring guidance from You and this is how I want to live my life. In Jesus name, Amen🙏

Hi everyone!
My name is Gabby and I am affiliated with Public Allies, an Americorps branch focused on leadership development and supporting non-profit organizations. As part of the program my team and I are collaborating with AZCEND, a non-profit organization with a long standing history in Chandler and the greater East Valley. They focus on providing a myriad of services ranging from food distribution to assisting the homeless population.

I am eager to share with you an opportunity to participate in a special drive to assist AZCEND in collection and distribution of food/hygiene items during the month of March. The collection of these items will directly benefit individuals and families during difficult times. There will be two bins located at Spirit of Hope, one for the collection of food items and one for the collection of hygiene items. We would greatly appreciate any donations you can give from the list of items below. Thank you so much for your contributions!!
