We pray for those church members who are struggling with many health issues this week and especially with all Covid, colds and flu cases.

Pray for the health of: Daryl. Pastor Jim Eschenbacher, Ardis, Frieda, Ruthie, Mike, Linda and Ken, Donna Miller, Lois Lortz .

Prayers for Joe, Matthew, Kevin Anderson, Connie, Leroy,

Lord, guide all who are struggling this week with loss and grief during the holidays. Help us be angels that shine the Light oi Christ upon them giving encouragement as they need. Amen

VBS

"Fruit of the Spirit"

A fun time was had last week for VBS. Singing, story time with Farmer Tony, snacks and many fun crafts.

Thanks to these young girls who worked and helped the kids sing and make the crafts.

We have so many great people that step up to help and work with the youth. Thanks to all the volunteers for making this a great success and hats off to Jackie Shelbourn our Youth Leader for organizing VBS.

The Superstition Community Food Bank (Apache Junction) is in need of plastic grocery bags and egg cartons. Please leave in the box in the narthex. Thank you.

November 4th Craft Show

Exploring Your Spiritual Gifts Retreat

Grand Canyon Synod Growing in Faith: The Diakonia Program

August 5th, 12th, and 19th 2023

9am-12noon via Zoom

What does God want of me?

What kind of ministry is God calling me to?

How am I to serve God?

Do I have a spiritual gift?

What is it?

How am I to use it?

Many Christians have asked themselves these questions. To help answer them we are sponsoring a retreat called Exploring Your Spiritual Gifts. Through a series of exercises and conversations attendees will be guided in a process of discernment about their gifts. By the end of the retreat attendees should know the gifts God has given them and begin to understand how God wants them to be used.

Our retreat leader is Rev. Stewart McDonald. A long-time Diakonia instructor, he is leader of the courses in the Tucson and Grand Canyon Synod Online cohorts: Images of the Church in the Bible and Beyond; and Daily Life of a Christian. He has led this Spiritual Gifts retreat a number of times. Participants have found this process to be very enlightening and practical as part of their faith development journey.

So come join us on this adventure of discernment and answer the questions many have been asking themselves. All are welcome!

Sky and Sunflower Mission

This mission to help the 700 Ukraine widows and orphans who are homeless outside the Polish Consulate will be coming to an end next week.

Donation envelopes are available at the church info desk. Checks can be made out to Spirit of Hope Lutheran and in the memo mark it for Sky & Sunflower Mission. Donations in the hunger jar will go towards this mission also. Thank you.

Outreach and Senior’s Rock are making sandwiches for the Men’s Homeless Shelter. They are providing sack lunches once a week for approximately100 men during the months of June, July & August.

We are now in need of donations of snack packs of chips.
