Memorial Day - May 31st
Memorial Day commemorates the men and women who died while in the military service of their country, particularly those who died in battle or as a result of wounds sustained in battle.
The purpose of Memorial Day is to memorialize the veterans who made the ultimate sacrifice for their country. We spend time remembering those who lost their lives and could not come home, reflecting on their service and why we have the luxury and freedom that we enjoy today. .
Remember: Raise the flag with honor and respect!

A Word from the Women's Bible Study
By Dar Stucke
Peace I leave with you. My (own) peace I now give and bequeath to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid—stop allowing yourselves to be agitated and disturbed; and do not permit yourselves to be fearful and intimidated and cowardly and unsettled. John 14:27 (Amplified Bible)
Jesus gave wonderful promises and bequeathed or willed precious gifts to His disciples before He returned to heaven. One of the gifts He left was His peace.
As we read today’s newspapers or listen to the newscasts, we say, “There seems to be anything but peace today.” Yet Jesus promised to leave His peace. He could do this, “For He Himself is our peace” (Ephesians 2:14). Today, when our hearts are filled with fear and tension, we can hear Jesus say, “Let not your heart be troubled. Remember I give you MY PEACE which can quiet your heart in these times of turmoil. I am the peace which can fill your heart and calm your fears.”
Are you upset by problems in your life? Does there seem to be no solution? “Is there any thing too hard for the Lord?” (Genesis 18:14) In the midst of our troubles, He says, “Let not your heart be troubled. I give you my peace—I am your peace.” Yes, today—in all your burdens and heartaches— this peace is for You. Peace is not the absence of feeling, but assurance in God who brings inward peace.
A missionary was translating God’s Word into the language of a jungle tribe. A native who was helping him couldn’t give him a word for ”peace.” One day he hurried in, saying, “I know now how to let my people know that Jesus gives peace inside.” “What is the word?” asked the translator? “Oh, I don’t know a word to use, but they will understand if you say, “Jesus will make your heart sit down.” Let Jesus make your heart sit down today and securely rest in His peace.
Dear Jesus, You know this has been a tough year for many of us in many ways. Please make my heart sit down. I know You are PEACE. I know You are the only true security I can ever have. Today I claim Your peace that passes all understanding. Thank You for Your promises. In Jesus name, Amen🙏

Congratulations to all of you on this Milestone of your Faith Journey

The NEW monthly small group in my home . . . . where we gather to share a beer or a beverage and discuss theology. Any type of theology. We can try to solve the world’s problems too! Let’s begin this conversation on the THIRD TUESDAY of every month at 6:30pm. Next gathering is June 15th. Feel free to bring your own beverage!
People have been gathering in pubs and public spaces for ages, talking about life, philosophy, faith, and deep questions of meaning. Increasingly, people all over are rediscovering space where they can explore and express their own doubts and questions, learn from others, and engage people of varying religious traditions. In our increasingly fractured society, these spaces are not only welcome, but needed.
Come bring your questions, your curiosity, and pull up a chair.
Our Home Address is : Carol and Pastor Tony Scheer -
11133 E. Segura Ave - Mesa, AZ 85212
(cross roads are Signal Butte and Warner)

HOLY LAND TRIP
January 2022
We have been able to confirm at least 8 of us who are able to make the trip to the Holy Land this January! If you too, are interested please contact me and we’ll get you set up. We will be having a website page to go to for registration soon! The trip will include most biblical excursions in and around Jerusalem including Bethlehem and Nazareth.
As your Pastor I will make the connections in Bethlehem to meet with the Bishop of the Lutheran church in Jordan and the Holy Land.
At this time prayerfully consider this opportunity. The more people that will be participating, the cheaper the trip will be for everyone. Right now we guestimate the trip to be around $4,000 or less. Please contact the church office or Pastor Tony if you are interested. (909-435-5200)
Let’s plan on having a meeting on TUESDAY June 15th at 6:00 pm Arizona time where we will meet both in person and in ZOOM.
Please let me know if you have schedule issues with this date and we can see what we can work out.

Instruction
For anyone ready to receive the Lord’s Supper
On Sunday, June 6th at 10:30 a.m., we have scheduled a summer session of our First Communion Instruction class. This course is for our young people who are asking deeper questions regarding receiving the Lord’s Supper and are entering the milestone ministry of First Communion. This course is open all children of all ages. Parents and youth can attend this special class that teaches youth the meaning of communion.
The Lord’s Supper is provided to anyone who is baptized in the name of Jesus Christ. There are no prerequisites! It is a free gift as baptism itself. The Evangelical Lutheran Church in America invites first communion to take place as early as the same day of infant baptism.
Please contact the church office if you are interested in having your child participate in this event. Phone - 480-396-8300
