A Word from the Women's Bible Study
By Dar Stucke
For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet he did not sin. Hebrews 4:15
One day a woman saw a little boy holding a sparrow with a broken wing. She said, “Son, would you like me to take this sparrow home and nurse it back to health? I promise to bring it back to you.” The little boy thought for a moment and then said, “If you don’t mind, I’ll take care of it myself, because, you see, I understand this bird.” At first the woman didn’t understand what the child meant, but when he stood up it became crystal clear to her. She saw that the little boy’s left leg was in a cast. Because he was crippled, he understood the problem of the suffering bird.
God, in the person of His Son, came to earth and lived as a man. He was subjected to all the trials and testings of life, yet was without sin. Thus, as our High Priest, He can sympathize and comfort as no one else can. Someone who has been tested and tried as we have is best able to understand our feelings.
Our Savior understands when we are heartbroken, and He shares the experience with us. He knows when we are lonely, discouraged and disappointed. He understands when we are misunderstood. He never misjudges us. He knows our weariness and loneliness. He knows about pain. There is no one so tender and sympathetic as He. Today, whatever your temptation, whatever your infirmity, whatever your problem, He is very near, understanding and sympathizing, bringing comfort to your heart as no one else can. Draw near to Him and He will draw near to you.
Dear God, I know You were truly man and shared all the problems that seem to surface in our lives today. Bring strength and comfort to all Your children who need it today. Let them feel Your loving arms around them, holding them securely. And then restore to them the joy that Your salvation brings. In Jesus name, Amen🙏
