Prayers –

We pray for those church members who are struggling with many health issues this week and especially with all Covid, colds and flu cases.

Pray for the health of: Pastor Jim Eschenbacher,  Daryl, Addy, Ardis, Frieda, Ruthie, Lois, Mike, Linda and Ken, Jennise Arcuri, Donna Miller

Prayers for Joe, Matthew, Kevin Anderson, Connie, Leroy,

Prayers for the families of Moine Gates, Jeanette Bailey and Naomi Henson who passed these past weeks. Give comfort and strength to the families.

Lord, guide all who are struggling this week with loss and grief during the holidays. Help us be angels that shine the Light oi Christ upon them giving encouragement as they need. Amen

VBS will be on Tuesday, July 11 and Wednesday, July 12 from 6:00 to 7:30 pm.

All children preschool to 6th grade are welcome.

If you are interested in helping plan and participate these nights, please contact Jackie Shelbourn, Youth Leader at j.shelbourn@yahoo.com.

Council Highlights…

• VBS will be July 11 and 12 this year from 6-7:30 pm

• The storage shed was stolen along with some tools. Things are now in the storage

container with a lock.

• Thank you to our friend LeRoy who filled the trench created by the broken water pipe.

• The Church anniversary celebration date has been moved to March 2, 2024.

• The audit committee this year is comprised of Chris Palmer, Sam Small and Allen

Thompson. We are grateful for their service.

• Our outreach team is planning a fall craft fair this fall.

• Seniors Rock group is making the lunches again this year. 100 brown bag lunches are

being sent to the Mesa Men's Shelter each week throughout the summer.

• With our bare bones budget, we are holding our own. There is some concern about the

financial status throughout the summer months when our winter visitors are not here. • Another meeting of the team chairs is in the works to better coordinate our ministries.

Our Three New SOH Members

Jorja Shelbourn, Addy Prada and Lindsey French were confirmed on May 28th. Greet them when you see them and watch them as they get involved in the church.

 Stewardship Team Report

Our financial stewardship goal for 2023 is set at achieving sufficient financing to support the Spirit of Hope Lutheran Church budget which was approved by the congregation during the 2023 annual meeting. The budget was formulated on the premise that giving throughout the year will meet the projected operational expenses of our church. Currently most of the Church ministry programs are self-supporting and are therefore not included in the budget.

To help meet our 2023 goal we will also continue with the Step-Up program goal, begun in 2022, of encouraging everyone to prayerfully consider donating an extra $2.50 (or more) each week to help meet our budget.

The summer months are particularly challenging as a significant number of our winter guests and members have returned north for the season and others will be on vacations throughout the ‘warm’ months. Operating costs must still be met to support the monthly needs of the Church.

Our team will continue to work with the financial team to keep the congregation apprised of our progress in meeting our goal.

Sky and Sunflower Mission

Donation envelopes to Sky and Sunflower Mission are available at the church info desk. This mission has been adopted by Church Council through the end of July to help the 700 widows and orphans who are homeless outside the Polish Consulate. These people do not receive any funding other than those like ours and the goodness of neighbors surrounding the Consulate. They do it because they remember their suffering they endured under Soviet rule.

Checks can be made out to Spirit of Hope Lutheran and in the memo mark it for Sky & Sunflower Mission. Donations in the hunger jar will go towards thi8s mission also. Thank you.

Yours in Christ,

Mike Snyder
