Annual Meeting!

Reminder: February 5^th is the annual meeting for our congregation.  This short meeting will follow the 9:30 service .All are welcome. Voting members must be present to vote. Watch your email for the booklet of information about this meeting.



Council Meeting Highlights

• Fellowship team is planning another get together like the BBQ that everyone

seemed to enjoy…more to come.

• Phil is getting a team together to plan for the 25th anniversary of SOH 

• Facility team is happy with the new fresh look of the church grounds. There is yet

another leak in the roof which is being addressed.

• Worship team is asking for volunteers to help take down the Christmas decoration

January 11@ 9am.

• Youth team was disappointed when our youth showed up the ring the bell, but the

Salvation Army did not☹. More activities are in the works.

• Discussions continued about opening up the nursery and beginning Sunday school

again. Workers must be background checked /fingerprinted. Let any of us on

Council know if you might be interested and already have been finger printed etc.

• Liasons were asked to get yearly reports from all ministry chairs by January 20, in

preparation for the Annual Meeting on February 5.

Prayers –

We pray for those church members who are struggling with many health issues this week and especially with all Covid, colds and flu cases.

Thanks for the safe return of Pastor Tony and Mike and Debbie Snyder from the Holy Land.

Lord, guide all who are struggling this week with loss and grief during the holidays. Help us be angels that shine the Light oi Christ upon them giving encouragement as they need. Amen

Lutheran Advocacy and Ministry of Arizona (LAMA) Invites you to 

Lutheran Day at the Legislature - YOU ARE INVITED!

Legislative appointments are between 10:45 - 1:45; Bishop's invocation and introduction on the House and Senate floors is approx. 1:00

All are invited to attend!  PLEASE REGISTER using this link ~ It's extremely helpful to know in advance what district you're in when we're making legislative appointments.

Plans are still underway, but I can tell you we've invited House Speaker Ben Toma and Senate Minority Leader Raquel Terán to speak, in addition to Bishop Deborah Hutterer and Connie Phillips of Lutheran Social Services of the Southwest and our coalition partners. Check-in is at 9:30, remarks begin at 10:00; your legislative visits begin approx. 10:45 ~ details to follow. We have 5 legislative appointments already set, and more to come.

Note we pushed back the start time this year to allow for longer drive times, and we're adding chairs! and a few tables as well. It's gonna be fun, bring your friends!!

Lutherans and friends of Lutherans from across the state will gather at the Arizona Capitol in Wesley Bolin Plaza for a day of advocacy on Monday, January 30, 2023 from 9:30 am - 11:30 am to learn, to witness, and to voice our common needs in the public square, activating our faith in love.

Meet your legislators, meet congregational LAMA liaisons, meet your LAMA policy council, and meet other Lutherans across Arizona who share a common belief that we are called through our baptismal covenant “…to strive for justice and peace in all the earth.”

Beer and Theology is the third Tuesday of the month at 6:30 p.m.
