A Word from the Women's Bible Study

By Dar Stucke

And Enoch walked with God. Genesis 5:24

By faith Enoch was taken so that he did not experience death; and “he was not found, because God had taken him.” For it was attested before he was taken away that “he had pleased God.” Hebrews 11:5

Enoch was a man who walked with God and pleased Him. It wasn’t easy to live such a life in those days of great wickedness on the earth. But in the midst of such conditions he lived a godly life. He was an ordinary man, a family man. He faced all the needs of a home.
However, he could face them confidently because God was his partner. His was a steadfast walk of faith.

Walking with God is more than merely living piously on Sunday. It means maintaining a consistent and godly walk on Monday when we are facing a new week of work at the office or on Tuesday when the hot water heater springs a leak, or on Wednesday when the air conditioner quits working on the hottest day of summer. It has been said, “It is the godly walk set to the common and ordinary round of duties that really counts.” Sometimes our walking needs to catch up with our talking.

There once was a very lowly monk named Brother Lawrence. He was a raw farm hand, awkward and uneducated, working in a monastery where he washed dishes and assisted the cook. One day while he was washing dishes, the thought came to him, GOD IS EVERYWHERE! GOD IS HERE! This thought gripped him so forcibly that ever afterwards he practiced the presence of God, realizing that God was constantly with him. The result was that he was so transformed and refined he became the talk of the monks and of the neighborhood. People came from great distances to interview this man who walked with God.

Fill in your own name. “I - - - walk with God. And I - - - have this assurance and belief that I - - - please God.”

Dear God, I want to walk with you and please You every day of the week. This is my sincere desire. And I know to accomplish this, I need Your help. In Jesus name, Amen
