2021 Vacation Bible School
We started VBS Monday, June 28th with 18 kids learning about Moses and Pharaoh and then Noah and his son and all the animals coming to his boat. Wonderful snacks related to the stories. A week full of fun and learning ending Friday.

Thursday Women's Bible Study
The Thursday Ladies Bible Study will begin meeting again on July 8th. We will meet at the same time, 1:00 PM. The current plan is to meet in the church narthex so we have more room to distance. Our regular room can get quite close together. We will continue to use the GATHER Magazine as our resource.
The summer study is titled “Just L I. F. E. (Liberation For Everyone!)”. Our first session is JUST WISDOM. The second session will explore JUST TRUTH. The third session is JUST HOPE. We plan to meet for about six weeks and then take a short recess till after Labor Day. Many of our regular members are gone for the summer months but some of us are still around.
We would love to have new people join our group. Maybe give it a try this summer and see what you think. Certainly we will welcome anybody and everybody who would like to join us.

A Word from the Women's Bible Study

Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord; and the people whom he has chosen for his own inheritance. Psalm 33:12
Our country was founded on its belief in God. In the summer of 1776, delegates from thirteen colonies met to consider the future of the new country. Suggestion after suggestion was offered and rejected. Finally the discouraged delegates turned to Benjamin Franklin for his opinion. Hesitating a moment, he slowly rose and delivered a brief but powerful message based on Psalm 127:1. “Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labor in vain; unless the Lord watches over the city, the guards stand watch in vain.” He suggested a time of prayer. A spirit of unity resulted and the Declaration of Independence was written. As the Liberty Bell rang for the first time in Independence Hall, it proclaimed the birth of the United States of America on July 4, 1776.
Eighty-seven years later, during a time of great crisis, President Lincoln, in his famous Gettysburg Address, challenged the people of America to resolve “that this nation, under God, shall have a new birth of freedom — and that government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth.” There are forces at work today which are trying to take away this freedom. These enemies are strong. Unless America acknowledges her dependence on God, we could lose this freedom so dear to many of us.
Prayer has changed the course of history in the past. It is still as powerful today. “If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways; then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin, and will heal their land” (II Chronicles 7:14).
The late President Kennedy, in his inaugural address, said, “Do not ask what your country can do for you, but ask what you can do for your country.” As we celebrate this Independence Day let us fervently PRAY that our United States of America may continue as a nation “under God.”
Dear God, Thank You for this beautiful country that we live in and for the freedoms we enjoy. Help us to never take these freedoms for granted. Thank You for blessing our beloved country so bountifully. May we please continue as a nation “under God.” This is my ardent and earnest prayer. In Jesus name, Amen🙏

This is a great time for fellowship and getting to know everyone. You order and pay for your own breakfast. Food and conversation makes everything better, right???

Prayers –
We pray for those church members who are struggling with many health issues this week.
Prayers for Calvin Schell who is hospitalized for a severe infection. Please calm the anxiety and heal him quickly so he can return to his home and spouse. Thank you Lord for your loving healing powers bestowed upon all who are sick or ill today.
We pray for Kianda Addo and family on the loss of her brother. We pray for this family and the loss of this young man who left this world at such a young age. Comfort this family and surround them with your everlasting embrace.
We pray for Debbie Traynor's family who have been exposed to a family out break of Covid. Some have been hospitalized in severe condition but are getting better. Several more of their extended family also have Covid with minor symptoms. Lord, guide this whole family through this pandemic and bring them the peace knowing you are suffering along side them. Bring Debbie the peace, knowing you are also present with her during this anxious time for her whole family.
Wayne Schmidt has recovered from C Diff and multiple infections and is now residing at a newer retirement community. We pray that this move to the next stage of life will continue providing hope for a create quality of life for years to come.
Ron Thomas is also recovering from C Diff and will be returning to his home this week. We continue to pray for strength and a strong Spirit giving him the hope for better days ahead!
We pray for the health of Ardis Johnson, Diane Reinhardt, David Thompson, Ethel Robbins, Diane Sanford, Linda Vandenberg, Tom Snodgrass, Marie Renda. Linda Basler, Frieda Pyles, Vicky Kuehl, Kevin Hicks, Marilyn Flood, Darlene Holzapfel.
Continue prayers for Debbie Roy's husband, Kim who was in a major motorcycle accident.
Thank You all for continual prayers and for being a part of such as meaningful and special ministry for so many people.
We pray for the spouses and families of those church members who have passed into the church triumphant this year.
May the God of good health and happiness restore all who are struggling this week with the many situations people in our lives are struggling. Thank you for your presence and give us the joys of everyday life!

We have a new Outreach ministry event that needs your participation!
With the weather getting hotter, he homeless in our community and in Phoenix are in desperate need of water and personal items. We have these reusable bottles to fill with products that would be helpful for them. All we need is for you to bring the items to fill them! This will also help cut down on the number of plastic bottles thrown away and let them use other water sources when bottled water is not available.
Members of the Outreach team and other SOH small groups will be assembling the bottles. We will then distribute them to our homeless, give some for you to distribute, and provide some for Grace Lutheran for their outreach ministries.
These are some items we would like to collect to fill the bottles:
1 Pair socks Travel size shampoo and soap
Toothbrush Wash cloth
mini toothpaste Meal cards from fast food restaurants
Pieces of candy comb
Pre-paid gift cards Nutrition bar
Please bring these items to the church and place in the bins in the foyer. Thank you for your efforts!

Senior's Rock was busy preparing lunches for Grace Lutheran. They had it nailed. In 30 minutes, they made 80 sandwiches. They will be made again in July, not sure how many, but they are ready. The rocker's have a way of helping out and doing whatever they can. They're a pretty wonderful group of people, I have to admit. Thanks, Rockers
