A PERSONAL NOTE

Do you have trouble if asked to speak in public, or even to get up and give a presentation to a group? I used to until someone told me a "trick."
A friend of mine this weekend described her situation in which she was asked to give a talk for her church. In the past, she was very nervous about doing so, and would rehearse and rehearse, memorize her lines as though she was reading a script, and it would be a nerve-wracking experience. This time, a topic came to her (maybe her guides gave her inspiration?), the subject being LIGHT. She prepared as well as can be, researching, putting together some notes, but she had anxiety nonetheless, and when she stood up to give her speech, she realized that her bifocals made the audience into a big blur instead of all those individual faces looking at her with their varied expressions - perhaps, in her mind, judging her. Instead (and ironically because of the subject matter), because their faces were blurry, she could give them no mind. And she could let the words flow. Everything that she needed to say or remembered to say flowed easily into her mind and out of her mouth. She felt exhilarated, and thought how easy it had been instead of being that dreaded activity that so many people fear.
Since she had succeeded so well, and was telling me her experience as though it was possibly a one-time-ever thing, I shared the tip I was given so long ago. Self-consciousness, I was told, is just another form of egotism. Even though you may be telling yourself a batch of negative messages about how you look, how you sound, whether you're smart or unprepared, your narrative is nevertheless all about yourself! The tip told me to focus on the other person, never mind what self-conscious thoughts arose. Switch them over to just conveying your ideas, insights, what you have to offer, and what you have to teach. Even, if it helps, think of your audience as friends hanging out in your livingroom.
I was painfully shy in high school and would blush beet-red if a teacher so much as looked at me. Then in my Twenties I was told by a psychic that I had speaking ability and it "was being pushed." Throughout my adulthood, especially after that wonderful tip, I have no fear whatsoever about public speaking. Whether in person, on the radio, on television, or on the internet. Put a microphone in front of her, my husband says, and Judi can speak for hours extemporaneously.
The moral of the story is very simple: get rid of ego. Dissolve it. Humble it. In all of its aspects, even those of negative self-consciousness, let it go. You have interesting ideas, creative thoughts, passion. Let those rip! Others need and want to hear from you. And the Universe wants to use you as its transmitter.

JUNE 2019 ASTRO TIDBITS
For the World, Week 1 offers brilliant ideas and new thinking (
Uranus sextile Mercury
). The 19th brings intense discussions and forced decisions (
Mercury opposite Pluto
) but the 21st indicates a struggle between over-optimism versus practical dreams (
Neptune station retrograde sextile Saturn exact/Pluto, square Jupiter exact, trine Mars/Node
). The 27th offers positive changes regarding freedom and innovation (
Uranus sextile Sun
).
For the U.S., most of the month is good for alliances, the job market, real estate, and unexpected windfalls (
Uranus sextile U.S. Jupiter
). From the 6th - 10th, we are bold regarding strong military action (
Mars conjunct U.S. Sun
). From the 23rd - 24th, deals can get done but there can be debates and accusations (

Almost no one speaks of karma when discussing rights, privileges, and equality. Whereas we are all born equal in the eyes of a Creator, and have bodies and emotions that are similar, hopes and aspirations that aim at happiness, and, most importantly, free will to make our choices, we are not at all similar when it comes to our karma.
From time immemorial, people by their own free will have committed dastardly acts. Many people have been unkind to their fellow human beings, and some have gone so far as to murder, rape, torture, or maim. "Man's inhumanity to man." Life, therefore, isn't really "fair" or "equal" because some of us have very heavy karmic dues to pay off. (Astrologers see these dues as patterns in the horoscope.)
There is much confusion today about building a utopian society in which everyone has "rights" to a beautiful existence, which may include free healthcare, financial support, education without debt, and a sharing of material resources. In order to achieve such a society, it stands to reason that all of its members must be spiritually evolved. At present, we are far from that attainment.
Here's the thing: Even if you aspire to be the kindest, most sharing, most openhearted individual, you will probably encounter or be directly affected by a less evolved soul who desires above all power, fame, wealth, or fulfillment of lust. These younger souls will play various games that will inevitably harm others, or result in others being injured. This fact of human nature is a very important consideration in today's world, to evaluate the possibility of the longed-for ideal society. It's an ugly fact, but truth nevertheless. Some people who have experienced this result in their personal interactions know full well that too much idealism or naivete when encountering those of low consciousness can be extremely painful as well as shocking. Not everyone vibrates to your benign level, and not everyone is averse to grabbing opportunity regardless of its outcome to you.
The way harmful people, such as some are, learn not to do so, and to be more evolved and compassionate, is to return to a life (reincarnate) in which they must experience the consequences of the negative karma they have laid down by such doings. This brings us to the issue nowadays in which idealism battles realism; in which gentleness learns what karma is, and how to help but not be harmed by people with negative karmic baggage.
Wisdom, therefore, requires that we tread gingerly regarding the equal embrace of all beings, for some still need spiritual tutoring. In other words, some not-nice people still need their suffering! Earth is school.
Good karma must be earned. May we all accelerate our evolution so as to mitigate our negative karmic hindrances. And then maybe everyone can be healthy, happy, and fulfilled on Planet Earth.

BOOK REVIEW:
"The Cosmic Mystery Tour: A High-Speed Journey Through Space & Time" - Nicholas Mee (Oxford University Press, 2019)
I don't know why I enjoy reading about hard science but I do and always have. This small book is pretty helpful to a lay person because it's not overly technical but sufficiently to measure up to true scientific standards, and it's written in a pleasant colloquial way with titles such as "Animated Atom Boy," "Diamonds in the Sky," "The Ultimate Heavy Metal Space Rock," "Dr. Atomic and the Black Hole," "To Boldly Go," and "Somewhere Over the Rainbow," just to name a few of the topics covered in its three parts, called The Laws of the Cosmos, The History, Geography and Architecture of the Cosmos, and The Biology of the Cosmos.
Furthermore, many figures who were instrumental in bringing our knowledge to its current stage - some famous, but some hardly known - are given recognition and descriptions of their contributions to our knowledge. This includes several women who were pushed aside or even blocked in their pursuit of science by the male establishment, and some men who died young, not living to see the full measure of their brilliant insights.
Beginning with Isaac Newton, his world and the state of science at the time, we are taken all the way through to our present atom smashers and deep space probes. It was helpful to comprehend the way that scientific discoveries stacked up upon each other, many using earlier discoveries to leapfrog into new understanding, or others improving on the instruments and techniques to forge new paths forward.
Not everything in science was touched upon. There are many subfields, such as genetics, neurobiology, or geology, that are hardly mentioned but author Mee enjoys pulling away the curtain on questions such as "How did the universe begin?", "What are gravitational waves all about?", and "Will we find life on other planets?"
Although the author has a versatile background including theoretical physics, mathematics, and even art, he has little interest in some of the metaphysical implications that are being brought forth by quantum physicists regarding the latest amazing discoveries. The entire topic of consciousness was sadly ignored. Nevertheless, this book was enjoyable and informative.

Attention, all readers! We wish to suggest that you get onboard promptly to take the train to higher consciousness. Think of this as travel - a trip, or vacation. A time-out from your normal busy schedule. A break. Stop what you are doing for awhile and get onboard this memory train.
Take it to the first stop, which is recognition that in your past the experiences you have undertaken and felt have laid some groundwork for your mission, that which you would like to accomplish as your future you. Now, as a sightseer or tourist, tour these memories not with pain or sadness but with wonder that you have lived through so much and yet here you still are, with greater awareness, seated comfortably, exploring your mind and your history.
Back onboard for Stop #2, which is, of course, the present. The only Now that is. Every moment here is your Now, created anew. Here is You as you have become, the place you have reached, the person you are known as to yourself, more importantly, than to others. And as you look around at Self, notice especially, and appreciate, the great wonder of your being, anything creative that you have endeavored and attained, anything internal that you have strengthened, any wisdom that is residing in the crevices of your mind - which may not even come forward except as needed in new and fresh moments. Appreciate Self, and be sure as the tourist of your travels, your journey, to make note of the great achievements of uniqueness, of that identity which is You in the Now moment.
Finally, we encourage you to get back onboard, to "sail off" (although we have you on a train) into the distance... that which will be your future. You may ponder; you may wait; you may stare off. At any rate, visualize this future aspect of this vacation trip as still full of wonder. Certainly not finished. And beckoning with excitement and joy for what you will no doubt reach in each future moment.
The only difference with this type of train trip, your inner journey, is that there is not a specific destination, neither the Greek Isles, nor the Himalayas, nor the shining sea. Nay, the destination is that which you keep creating, and it is eternal. Whenever the present moment becomes stressful, overbearing, anxiety-producing... in a word, everyday life in these times... take that break. Get back on this train. Review, appreciate, and look forward.
