On September 9, we celebrate the Feast of Blessed Jacques Laval to honor the “Apostle of Mauritius,” a man who worked tirelessly to empower and care for a forgotten people. May we strive always to lift up, empower, and care for others with Father Laval as our inspiration. 
Sponsored Priests in the DR Ordained
Four Spiritan Priests in the Democratic Republic of Congo who were sponsored by SOMA donors were ordained in July 2023. We are thankful for our donors who have helped support these men through their formation so that they can now go out and spread the Gospel.
SOMA responds to Laudato Si'
Sept. 1- Oct 4 is the Season of Creation, a time for Christians to come together for meaningful action to care for our Earth. For Catholics, this ties closely into the tenets of Pope Francis's Laudato Si'. Since its inception, SOMA has been responding and will continue responding to several of the Laudato Si’ goals, namely: Response to the Cry of the Earth, Response to the Cry of the Poor, and Ecological Economics. Use Your RMD To Change Lives
If you are 70.5 and have an eligible IRA account, you can make a qualified charitable contribution (QCD) directly from your IRA account to the Spiritan Office of Mission Advancement up to $100,000. The QCDs can be counted toward satisfying your required minimum distributions (RMDs) for the year. Learn more.
