Spiritual Warfare in Port Harcourt

On June 26th, the government in Nigeria gave us their full support to begin work in Port Harcourt. As you know, we have faced MAJOR opposition there. We're not used to facing opposition to our work. Usually, we are invited to an area by a people desperate for a school, and they are SO HAPPY for us to come. Projects are completed quickly and successfully.

In Port Harcourt, the land was sold to us by a dear friend - he knew full well that our work was with the Fulani people. He soon died, and his family has been violent in their opposition to us. We have not been led by the Lord to move on - in fact, we are hoping that God will use us in this community in a mighty way! We want to bless them!

A pastor this week shared a message that touched both Phyllis and I (SFA Secretary, Carisa). He spoke about God's timing, waiting on the Lord, and trusting that He is in control. We BOTH knew that it was for us, and about Port Harcourt. We are used to timely success, but in Port Harcourt we have had nothing but delay and heartache!

We will move ahead slowly and prayerfully in Port Harcourt, listening very carefully for the Lord to lead us. We need your prayer support - we are facing some serious spiritual warfare in this place.

One of our prayer warriors had some wise words this week. John shared the following: I believe that the entire resistance to this Port Harcourt project is being underwritten by Satan. Those of you supporters of Schools For Africa who understand spiritual warfare need to increase your efforts on behalf of this new Fulani colony.

Here’s how I pray: Father God,

1. Cover this whole project and Your beloved

children with the POWER OF JESUS’S BLOOD.

2. Encircle this entire project with YOUR LIGHT.

3. Set the CROSS OF CHRIST between this project and its enemies - spiritual, ethnic, civil, sociological, political, and individuals.

IN JESUS’s NAME, AMEN!

AND DON’t forget: love one another because God has got a great project going here with Huge Consequences for all the people of this region. Why else would there be such resistance?

Thanks for your wisdom, John. We agree and say AMEN.

CORRECTION - Our quarterly mailers always have a little white envelope for donors who want to send in a check. June's white envelope had the wrong address! Our apologies!
