This week's Gospel: Matthew 20: 1-16A

Dear Friends,

Yunjin Kim is moving on from her position as Director of Spirit Singers Choir. She is seeking full-time employment as a music director. We will miss her exceptional talent, as well as the obvious passion and energy she showed us. We wish Yunjin the best and thank her for her hard work that brought us so much joy and spiritual benefit over the last two years.

This means that we are seeking a new Music Director.  We are looking for a dynamic, warm, loving choir leader (and singer) to direct the Spirit Singers Choir and ensembles, as well as do solo performances. The person needs to have skills to direct choral music as well as enthusiasm for contemporary Praise and Worship style. If you know anyone who might love this job, please let me or Rev. Mary know.

Thanks for your generous response to last weekend's "underwear collection."  We collected $2,620 to send to Houston so people can have underwear (it was brought to our attention that people donate clothes but rarely underwear).

Our Religious Education Program begins on Sunday, September 24, with Pre K - 6th Grade classes at 9:30 am. If you have a child you want to enroll in our wonderful program, please contact Mark Potter at the office, 325-1180.

Our Speaking from the Heart Ministry will meet again on October 1 at 11:30 am at Spiritus.  Our immigrant friends are in need of some help -- a safer house for one family who is experiencing hate crimes; a computer savvy person who can tweak their donated computer; an apartment or a room to rent for a single woman, and a computer keyboard. If you can help, please contact Marybeth Knowles at [email protected] .

Save the date for the Spiritus Christi Mental Health Center's annual RIVERWALK on Sunday, October 22, from 11 am - 3 pm. There will be a 5K route, lunch, a photo booth, kid's crafts, music and more. If you're interested in helping out with the event, please contact Amy or Maureen at 325-1180.

We send condolences to the family of Patrick Drexler, 57, whose funeral we celebrated this week. Pat was a trusted volunteer at Grace of God Recovery House. We will miss his passionate spirit.

Hope you are doing well. May God's love and peace be with you.

This comes with love,

Father Jim

From the Mental Health Center: Dr. David, our volunteer chiropractor, is offering a class in Somato Respiratory Integration (SRI), a practice designed to offer new options in personal healing. The class begins Tuesday, October 3 from 10 - 10:30 am, in the Nielsen Room. Says Dr.  David, "Everyone has painful and stressful experiences. Many people ignore or wish away these experiences and in doing so, disconnect from their body and their life. Somato Respiratory Integration (SRI) uses awareness, body position, and breath to feel safety allowing you to connect with your feelings and move on to the next stage of healing." Participants should bring a small blanket or yoga mat to lie on. Please call Maureen Marlow (325-1180 x 114) to sign up or if you have any questions.

Artists and crafters wanted to display and sell their crafts at our Annual Craft Show on Sunday, December 3, from 11 am - 12 pm after Mass at Hochstein. $25 or 10% of your sales, whatever God moves you to give. Call Deborah Benedetto (323-1647) for more information.
