Dear Parents and Guardians,

Spirit Games at the beach will be held next week Wednesday, May 27! Your child should have already returned their permission slip signed by you. If they have not yet done so, please print it out HERE, sign it, and email it today, Friday, May 22 to their ADVISORY teacher / Homeroom (5th grade). 

Below you will find all of the information needed for the day:

• Staff and students will be escorted to/from the beach by HBPD and LACFD (Hermosa).
• Students will have the opportunity to join in on activities which include: beach volleyball, sandcastle building, spike ball, and jumbo jenga. Students may also choose to chill on the sand with friends and make memories while relaxing.

Schedule for the Day: 

Class Schedule:

All students (5-8) should arrive at school on time. Students will travel through every period to check in with teachers and take attendance.  

Beach Schedule:

• Leave School at 10:10am
• Walk to Beach 10:10 - 10:30am
• Down time / set up your spaces / relax 10:30 - 10:45am
• Round 1 Activities 10:45 - 11:45am
• Lunch 11:45 - 12:30pm (Pizza - provided)
• Round 2 Activities 12:30 - 1:15pm
• Clean up and Get Ready 1:15 - 1:30pm
• Walk back to School 1:30 - 1:51pm 

Important Items to Note:

• If your child needs to be signed out early, you must go to the Hermosa Valley School office first. You will receive a slip from the front office staff, which you will then bring to the beach. No child will be released for any reason without the slip from the office. Please plan your time accordingly. 
• Independent Study PE Students who need to leave the beach for their afternoon athletic activity will be escorted back to campus to be released at 1pm. If other arrangements must be made, please reach out to Assistant Principal Alison Montoya at AMontoya@hbcsd.org. 
• What to bring/leave at home:
• They Should Bring: a towel, wear a school appropriate bathing suit UNDER their school appropriate clothes, sunscreen, a hat, and extra water. They can bring their own lunch or a snack if they do not want to eat the school provided slice of pizza.
• They Should NOT Bring: surf boards, boogie boards, etc. No computers will be permitted.
• We are recommending that students do not bring phones to the beach, as the school will not be liable for these lost or damaged items. 
• Students will be required to walk back to school with their Advisory period class / Homeroom (5th grade). Attendance will be taken before they leave the beach and upon return to school. Any student not accounted for will be marked absent. If a student leaves without permission, they will be considered truant and disciplinary action will be taken.
• Any student absent from school who arrives to the beach will be considered truant and disciplinary action will be taken.
